Who: Roy Sellers (
aetos), Vaughn Inglebard (
unimpressive), and Akito Tanabe (
dyingtohealyou).
Where: Roy's house
When: February 1st, early afternoon. Roy showed mercy on their sleep schedule this time.
What: In the name of trying to improve the spirits of a distressed teenager, Roy caves and offers to try and teach his friends fencing. Things go horribly downhill.
Warnings: Probably violence? Shouldn't get too bad, though.
[So, Akito is (understandably) down in the dumps. What better way to encourage stress relief than learning how to beat something up the proper way?
...Actually, this wasn't really Roy's initial idea at all, but the two had been hounding him over it for a while. While he had been reluctant in thinking himself anything close to a proper teacher for the subject, seeing Akito so wound up and distressed over his recent pulses made him reconsider attempting to show them some sort of healthy outlet.
And hopefully wouldn't result in more echoes.
So Roy calls Vaughn over later that Saturday, after his parents had left the house for a while, and tells him to head over into his backyard. He calls Akito out several minutes later, and when his two friends finally congregate in the back of his house, Roy slides in behind them, hands on his hips and a look of acquiescence on his face.]
I still don't know why you want me to teach you instead of going to the fencing club or something.
[Of course, his complaint lacks any bite to it when Roy had already gone out of the way to buy several wooden training swords and lay them neatly side-by-side on the ground.]

no subject
That sounds pretty intense.
[It's one thing if it's a monster, but--
Well, not that Akito can really say much for himself, considering what that monster turned out to be.]
...You going to be okay?
no subject
I-I didn't cut off anyone's head! It's not like that! It's...
[He grimaces. Well, okay, it kind of is like that. Sort of.
Damn.]
...I'll be fine! I... Heh, I always am, huh?
no subject
But something about this situation wasn't entirely normal, and Roy's grip on the hilt of his sword tightened as a funny, hot shock of anger coursed down his spine.]
Then stop stalling and hit me. [The irritation caught him by surprise, and Roy can't entirely keep the harsh tone out of his voice.]
no subject
Look-- Roy, can we just take a break for a minute? If he just remembered something, he's probably disoriented, so give him a sec to catch up again.
no subject
That... isn't like Roy. Not. Really.
He relaxes, albeit minutely, when Akito speaks, then nods.]
Yeah... Akito's right. Just give me a second! I... I'll hit you later!
[Even as he says it though, he grimaces, not at all looking forward to that. He knows a simple practice fight can't end up like that again, but with the images still so fresh in his mind...
Nope.]
sry for ur friend guys
But the refusal was annoying. Offensive, even. Like he had been denied a calling. His fingers itch and tighten harder around the hilt, and irritation buzzes louder through his head, giving way to hot, stinging fury.
He should walk away. Take a breather and come back, and maybe Vaughn would be ready then.
But he can't and it takes him a moment or two before he realizes his body moving on its own.
Roy doesn't lunge so much as spring forward, that innocuous wooden sword raised over his head only to be brought down like a guillotine, aiming for the side of Vaughn's torso.]
friendship broken
Which is why, when Roy does that very thing, he's slow to react. All he can manage to do is gape in surprise. It's probably over with by the time he finally forces out a sound.]
Wha-?!
SOCIAL LINK REVERSED
He doesn't move though, can't move-- not that he'd have been quick enough to dodge it then anyway-- not when he's too busy gaping at Roy in complete bewilderment and shock and--
And then he hits and Vaughn instantly curls in on his side and he still hasn't quite processed what happened.]
Wha... What the hell are you doing?! [he manages to wheeze out, because seriously what in the world]
DISAPPROVES -100
It's almost enough to forget that actually connecting the sword to Vaughn's skin was not supposed to happen at all. The rush leaves immediately once the enormity of what actually happened hits him, and Roy steps back away hurriedly, the sword slipping out of his relaxed fingers.]
...You were supposed to block it.
[What a lame excuse, and its delivery is equally lame.]
WHY CAN'T WE ALL JUST BE FRIENDS
He wasn't ready. What are you doing?
[He moves quickly to Vaughn's side, shooting off a single confused and angry glare at Roy before settling his gaze on his other friend, willing whatever wound might have been given to heal.]
NO, LOVE IS OVER
I-I didn't even know you were gonna do that! How was I supposed to block it?!
I thought we were taking a break anyway.
ALLLLLLL BYYYYYY MYYYYYYSEEEEEEEELLLLLF wlu anyway alex
[Something's wrong, that's for sure. Roy hates disappointing people, and after a screw-up like this, he'd be practically hanging off of them while he voices his numerous apologies.
But Roy just stands there, face still and even. The only hint that he feels anything at all is a soft, thoughtful frown on his face. After a moment, he drops his eyes, though hesitantly, to the floor.]
...Sorry.
[But he's not and even Roy knows he should be, and the realization sends a shiver down his spine. His voice is flat and monotone; completely insincere.]
NO ROY COME BACK WE STILL HAVE TO ANGST TOGETHER
You could've warned him before you attacked!
[It's-- chilling, really. The lack of sincerity in his tone. It's not like Roy at all.]
...What's up? Did something happen?
[Because this is wrong. So, so wrong. Why is Roy of all people acting like this?]
cries ty AND YOU CAN'T JUST ABANDON AKITO LIKE THIS...
Did wanting to take a break offend him that much? This really isn't like Roy, after all. No matter how much Vaughn messes up, it's just not like him to act like this. So right now...
He forces himself to relax when Akito speaks again, then nods.]
Yeah. Did... Something happen with your family?
