"It's a little unsettling, but not so bad as someone who suddenly just hates a thing they didn't, before."
no subject
No one seems to talk about that much, either.

He can only imagine how awful it would be to suddenly feel that way.
Alex isn't the greatest at reading people, but even he can tell it's a topic Julien would rather not get into personally.
"Makes me feel kind of sill, silly for complaining about the playing-with-sound-zuh thing."
no subject
"...but it does feel weird, sometimes, complaining when you know there's people who have it worse. I don't know. Maybe it's better to just keep it to friends."
no subject
"I guess, gess-suh, everyone has stuff that's really hard to deal with, and stuff that's ack, actually kinda cool."
no subject
He's more worried about what's to come than what's here already. "Really right now I don't like smelling like bread or having to sponge oil off my back, or having people think I'm feverish. But, it's just an annoyance."
no subject
Wait, he has to ask about some of those. "You don't like smelling-ing bread?"
no subject
He extends his hand, palm down, with a grin. "This is probably the least creepy way to smell someone."
If it's taken, his skin is soft and fine and thin, and several degrees warmer than it should be. His smell... is not quite like bread, but more like it than anything else. A sort of mix of yeast, heat, sweetness, something like egg yolk.
no subject
He only hesitates for a second before taking Julien's hand, lifting it to the general area of his nose, and sniffing quickly before letting go. His skin's definitely warmer than normal humans'.
"Huh, you're totally, lee, right. Like sweet bread." That probably shouldn't be making Alex want more dessert.
"It could be worse, right? Though smelling-ing like a bakery's a pretty random power."
no subject
"On the other hand, though, I don't sweat. I still have to bathe or my smell gets worse, but I don't soak my clothes or smell like a gym anymore." A shrug. "Random, but minor."
no subject
The urge to figure out how they add up is almost irresistible, but feels strangely intrusive. Pulses can be pretty personal things, after all.
"But they'll have to make sense eventually, lee."
no subject
He shrugs, then. People have hinted or outright stated where they think his changes are going, and he's always rejected it. "Eventually. I'm not in a hurry."
no subject
"Have you gotten any more clue-zuh about... what was it? The Apostle thingie?"
no subject
no subject
no subject
no subject
"I wonn, wonder why that is. Do you know if your pulses are coming-ing in any kind of order?"
no subject
no subject
He's starting to think there isn't, except for whatever order will mess with their minds the most.
no subject
Shaking his head, Julien leans to the side and snags a cube of cheese from a platter. "But that's a pretty depressing topic to get on, isn't it?"
no subject
It's hard to depress Alex, but possible impending doom will do it. He takes another few sweets from the table as an antidote, and crunches a snickerdoodle thoughtfully.
"Peep, people keep asking about that kind of thing on the network. I don't think I'm going-ing to be sorry? Assuming we'd be getting pulse-zuh and all this would be going down no matter what, I'd have to try to find out what it's all about."
no subject
Well, he won't confess a fear about losing himself to his other, he decides, so Julien shrugs. "That's a good point. Sometimes the mindbending stuff helps, too. It's more that if there's a lot of memories and things, there's bound to be others too."
no subject
"Other-zuh? What do you mean?"
no subject
It would be soon. He'd had that premonition since December - he didn't have many more things to change.
