town meeting, alien breaking hoa rules

On a return trip to the snacks table, Jackson lingers a bit longer in filling up a little plate with cheese cubes and grapes when he spots Chris. Well, mostly he spots the tablet. That is a nice tablet, and he'd been giving some consideration to picking one up. Seeing an avenue to both make some conversation and prepare for a future shopping trip, he pipes up.

"Hey. That's a..." And he stumbles a bit right off the bat, the make escaping him, for a moment, though he does try to crane his neck closer to see if there's a manufacture's logo on it. "...it's a nice tablet. What's the make, again? Been thinking about getting one."

"It's an Android," she says, maybe a little absently. "iPads aren't very customizable..."

"A friend got it for me. Though I've already hacked mine a bit."

"I was going to say... Android's the way to go, though. I agree. Nexus 10? Looks about the right size for it." And he made an impressed sound at the talk of hacking. "Nice. How hard is it to do?"

"Eh, it's not too difficult, just takes time and patience. Anyway yes, it's a Nexus 10," she says.

"Most of the mods on it right now are just simple things. Cosmetic stuff to make it look nicer, some programs for chatting with people directly... y'know. Stuff."

"No chance you can wind up bricking the thing? It's something I've always wanted to try, but never really got around to..."

"There's always a chance," she said. "But if you follow the online guides, it's pretty low. I mean, some of the stuff I do COULD brick it, but I also have three fourths of a PhD in programming, so I'm still less likely than your average person..."

"Don't spill anything and don't let your hand slip, and it's probably alright?" He laughs, and continues. "Maybe I'll look up a few guides and give it a go. I took a programming course back in high school, that's got to count for something?" No, he's not serious. Not very serious, anyway.
