town meeting, alien breaking hoa rules

What: The Numbers discuss how to go about addressing the alien in the farmhouse. Nothing could go wrong, certainly?

"I'm not optimistic about it, for certain. In fact if this keeps up much longer we might get absolutely nothing done."

"I've got a little more faith than that," Kari said. It still felt strange saying it. "This group has fallen through and failed, but... Not always."

"That's true, but for me our proudest moment so far has been the water protest. We can't exactly garner public support for something like this investigation."

"Although," Kari countered, "this is far closer to what we've actually prepared for."

[vanisland]

"Possibly. And we don't have to involve anyone else, so in theory this could be pretty simple."

Plans don't survive on contact with the enemy. Especially so here, where the enemy was more-or-less a total unknown.
