Aria got separated from those she'd been with originally at some point; she'd just lost track of them in the chaos, although she's still suspended in the air, holding herself up with the power of her mind, glowing the same deep red as her blood. Spotting people she recognized, she'd been coming to offered what assistance she can - mainly the ability to move things around without touching them, which has thus far involved throwing things at them or attempting coordinated snake throwing.

Before she has time to say anything to Mac - or Roxy, who she recognizes when she falls as the girl who'd made the cute cookies at Danny's meet-up, the one who types in bright pink who's probably part of the nebulous group of people connected to "Aradia Megido" and the past life she only somewhat remembers - or Danny - before she can think of anything to say, the snake crushes Roxy, and Aria's mouth hangs open, still trying to frame the start of a sentence that never comes.

She's remembered dying twice over now, herself. But Aria's never managed to see anyone die until this second. Not outside of the movies, or things that weren't at all real.

"We - we have to get it off her - " It's the first thing that comes to mind, and she raises a hand to try it, but she's alone right now and can't lift something that heavy without Soren's help, probably, and how would that help, because Roxy's clearly not going to be okay?

The pain in Calvin's eyes is, for a few seconds, almost too much to bear. It starts dulling and he begins blinking his eyes rapidly, trying to re-adjust quickly. The sound of something hitting the snake hard gets through and is quickly followed up by the sound of a sickening crunch. The latter gets him to look up in time to see the results.

The first thought is that he recognizes her. He can't put a name to it, but he remembers talking to her on the network. The second thought that hits him, after her body ragdolls upon hitting the ground, is how still she is.

He hears someone say they have to get it off of her. Instinct shouts down the recurring thought that she died because she wouldn't run, that he'll die too if he gets any closer. He sprints the short distance towards Roxy and the snake and goes into a shoulder check, trying to force it off. It's heavy. Really heavy. The sensation reminds him of when he slammed into the wall and he all but bounces off, hitting the ground and landing on his back, wincing. The wind gets knocked out of him like when he hit the wall too.

At least it distracts him from the pain in his eyes.

Octavia is busy stubbornly pretending that nothing bad is happening. Roxy is fine. If she doesn't look too closely, she can pretend she's still breathing. All Tavia has to do is focus on other things and everything will be alright.

Like occasionally poking the minds of people who seem like they're about to flip the fuck out (hi, Mac). Oh, and the snake. That's a thing that demands attention too.

She hasn't tried out her dice before, but she remembers how they work from one of her earliest echoes. She should be able to just roll them and summon a giant ghost guillotine. Easy, right?

Here goes.

8-3-6-4-4-1-6-3: [DOUBLE DEUCE]

...Except the dice don't summon the guillotine from her memories at all. Two spectral blue clubs - one a heavy nail-studded affair and the other a cane of dubious origin - appear in her hands with a soft pop.

Well, that. That's a thing.

She's too weedy to wield the spiked club herself, so she hefts it towards Alan before scrabbling around on the floor to retrieve her dice. What the shiiittttt.

While Alan has so far been doing a pretty good job at not shooting himself or anyone else, he hasn't been able to do much to the snake either. Turns out bullets don't do much against stone. Who knew?

The feeling of inevitable death has been hanging heavily over him, but he's not standing down. His past self had been ready to die every time he went into battle. He can do the same. So he just grits his teeth and tries desperately to aim his final bullet into one of the holes the weird laser shit had made in the snake's head-

-When suddenly there are ghostly clubs? What the hell?

Well, he's not going to complain about having a weapon he can actually use, so he catches the club Octavia throws him and slams it into the snake with all his strength. Weirdly, it feels like that's more than what it was before he got into this fight.

The first attacker is Mac, and thus the snake reacts to him first, jaws opening in reaction to its surface being cut by his windy weapon. The cuts don't go deep, but they are enough of an annoyance for it to want to crush whatever part of Mac it can reach in its mouth. His make-shift hammers fares poorly.

When it shifts to address Calvin and Alan, it inadvertently smashes Roxy's corpse a little more before leaving it completely. Alan's strike isn't strong enough to damage the snake, but it is enough to send it falling towards the floor.

Walter, for the most part, has been hanging back and conserving ammunition. So much has happened in such a short amount of time, and despite his earlier bravado it's hard to just jump into the fray. From what he's observed so far, guns aren't really that effective anyway.

And then Roxy gets crushed, which only ramps the fear up to eleven. For what feels like the longest time he's frozen in place, trying to believe that she lived through it, but logic destroys any hope he might have. And even if there had been any hope, the second hit would've annihilated it completely.

He probably would've stood there indefinitely if not for the prodding at mind, urging him to overcome the panic. He moves closer to the snake -- probably closer than is advisable -- and unloads most of his clip into it, aiming for the spots it's already taken damage.

Calvin rolls over on to his stomach, gets up on to his knees and pulls himself over towards Roxy as the snake gets off of her. He grabs her arms and starts to drag her away from the melee when he makes the mistake of catching sight of her. When he does, it makes him stop. From this close, she really looks dead is all he can think. She really looks dead because she is dead and there is nothing he can do about it. His thoughts run in circles to that effect for several agonizing seconds until he forces them to stop with a thought that gives him sudden clarity: but there are still others here he can help. Still staring down at Roxy, he shuts his eyes. He doesn't know how he knows how to do it, but he knows. He grimaces as his veins start to burn again.

His head snaps up. He adds to the gunfire and blunt force attacks with another seconds-long burst of heat vision. He tries to aim for the cracks on the snake or the cuts or any area of it that looks like it might already be damaged, but the attack is only sustained for all of a couple seconds before Calvin's head bucks up and it abruptly stops. His eyes are smoking again and it doesn't look like he's getting up from his knees for the next few seconds.

There is just no preparing for how much that hurts.

The combined firepower of Walter's shooting and Calvin's second round of heat vision blows most of the snake's head right off, falling to the floor in bits and pieces of pink 'stone.' What's left is something like the statues' version of Two-Face reeling backwards from the combined force of their attacks.
