town meeting, alien breaking hoa rules

"Both." Because that's a super helpful answer. Okay no, even he realizes that answer sucks and he really has no reason to be so short with the guy. What would answering the question hurt, exactly?

Nothing. That's what. So he may as well.

"I read plenty. Play soccer when the weather's nicer." That's without mentioning the sculpture interest. He doesn't know why he doesn't say that one. Not like it's any more personal than the others. But he's a kid and therefore allowed to be weird about the stupidest things.

Yes! Good! That's how you make conversation, kid. "Oh? What position?" He knows a bit about soccer - not overly much, but enough to talk about it, he hopes. Or at least not to make too much of a fool of himself, since it doesn't look like the boy has the sense of humor to laugh at such. Even if he knew Elian was playing it up for laughs.

Is it? He wouldn't know. Conversation is hard. And he would mostly give bland looks if he thought Elian was making a fool of himself. Scowls are for people who aren't grandparent age.

"Striker, usually." Probably fitting, when his Pulses are considered. He always seems to run offense, both in this life and the previous one. "Decent at others, though."

He's learning, if nothing else! "May I be so bold as to ask if you've found yourself better as of late? I know that some are finding these Echoes to be rather convenient." Better that then, well, the opposite. Like many of his have been.

He has to think about this one for a minute, because the answer isn't immediately obvious. After all, it's not like ice powers are something he can bust out in the middle of a soccer game. But . . .

"I'm a little more stable on my feet, maybe. Harder to knock over. Better at dodging around people. Anything else'd have to be deliberate and obviously I can't be doing that."

"Of course." Especially not with all the concern, from police to dogs to everything else. "It's good to hear that you have at least those working in your favor. I know some who aren't always so lucky."

Though he may be lucky if he starts teaching again, when it comes to never being late.
