When the chaos begins, Elian's first instinct is to get out, followed closely by get the rest out. Familiar unease and stress rises, even if he's forcing himself to deal with it, but as his heart starts to beat faster and faster there's a sudden-

Burning? Itching? Twisting in his skin that has him gasp in startlement more than pain, all but falling back against the wall, quickly going pale. What-

What's happening!?

It's perhaps the uncertainty that feeds his disorientation more than anything else; as it is, were anyone to cast a look in his direction, it would be clear he's not in a good state. With fingers clawed and grasping at his own skin-

It's likely a very good thing he keeps his nails trimmed.

Arthur was pretty focused on trying to get everyone out to safety at this point, and he couldn't help but notice poor Elian going down. Keeping the old people safe was a priority, especially the host of what had been a fine party until the snakes arrived! "Great Scott!" He rushed over to Elian's side, crouching down next to the old man. "Hang in there--I'll get you out of here!"

He's hunched over, trying desperately to get his footing without much luck. When Arthur rushes over, Elian's skin is by then pale, with sweat forming on it- his eyes are unfocused as well.

Too old for this, he thinks distractedly, managing to look towards Arthur. He nods shakily, wordlessly asking and giving permission for the offer of help.

"Elian! Artie!" And there's Granny Ivy, clutching her purse tightly to her. She's got it weighted down with metal bearing balls since her mugging--after the strength boost that resulted, it made a lot sense to turn the purse into a secret weapon like that.

"Granny! Stay close! I'll get you both out of here!" Arthur was busy trying to get Elian into a rescue carry. He didn't know about Granny Curry's secret weapon because of the secret nature of such a weapon, but he would have felt a lot better about her being there if he had known of her outrageously brilliant scheme. He didn't have any super strength, but he was a big guy with lots of muscles. Lifting Elian would be relatively easy.

Elian was an old man who, while in damned good shape for his age, still suffered from many side effects thereof - lessening of bone mass, muscle mass, and all sorts. He wasn't hard to lift whatsoever, even managing to get a loose grip on to Arthur himself.

He'll be embarrassed regarding his state later, especially with Ivy there (who does get a brief, almost rueful look). For now he's gritting his teeth, letting himself be carried and trying not to think about how his own skin feels wrong.

Though he's wearing a long-sleeved shirt, by now the cuffs have rolled up a bit; strange lines seem to be spreading over him, though they cut off at his wrists.
pokebonnet: (WTF?!?)

we should totally have some snake wound granny and arthur so their healing kicks in

"Of course I'm staying close, Artie," Ivy says. "You're going to need someone to protect you two against those snakes!" She brandishes her purse threateningly.
italktofish: (still not as weird as it looks)

that would be perfect

Arthur has noticed those lines spreading over Elian and looks concerned, but for once in his life, he knows better than to say anything. Well, anything besides an exclamation of "GREAT SCOTT!" but that could have been at anything, really. Possibly even at Granny's saying she'd protect them.

"Right, Granny, of course, of course!" Even if she was strong enough to have been breaking all of that furniture, Arthur still wasn't comfortable with the idea of her going out there and slugging things for him. "But for now, let's try to get out of here!" He was looking around for an exit now that he was sure he had a good grasp on Elian.

lmk if this doesn't jive

Babby snake from here yonder thread had been attempting to go-- where, somewhere, by the looks of its beelining, and Arthur, Elian, and Ivy just so happened to be in its way. The snake, however quicker than its kin in slithering, had no intention on attacking the trio, but that didn't mean they escaped unscathed.

Nay! Kari's Cutie☆Hot Pitch attack sent it flying forward, right into the trio. The statue's smaller size meant it carried less oomph than the other statues, but impact would definitely still hurt.

Oh, good, and now there was a snake coming at them. For all that it was small-

Elian instinctively grips Arthur a bit tighter, managing a hoarse "Look out!"

"GREAT SCOTT!" Arthur instinctively moved to shield the old man with his his own massive body. Good thing he'd gotten so big! Even if this was probably going to hurt.

Granny Ivy is side by side with Arthur when the snake impacts. She is quite sure her ribs have never hurt as much as they do now. Never the less, she shoves the snake off of them.

"Not funny!"

Oof.

To say the least. Elian's grip fumbles a bit, but somehow he manages to keep a grip; grimacing, he starts fumbling for something in his pocket, hoping desperately he can find his charm and that its' barrier will hold up against this beast-

Anything he can do to help.

"Granny! Elian!" Arthur had the wind knocked out of him, but oddly enough, it didn't hurt as much as it felt like it should have. "Are you all right?" He was trying to scramble to help Granny up even as he refused to give up his grip on Elian.

"Yes, ow!" Thankfully, with Arthur's help, Ivy's able to stand up again.

"I'm...all right."

Mostly. Aside from the still-tingling, almost crawling sensation on his skin. He grimaced again, then tried to squeeze Arthur's shoulder in signal for him to set him down. At least let him try to stand.

This may end badly.

"We should go." He was looking directly at Ivy as he said it.
