"Oh god, oh man, oh--o-oh...." Danny had stepped back and braced himself, arms up over his face, for whatever would come next, but it didn't sound like anything exploded....

When he looks up, instead, everything is still intact--including the snake, unfortunately. But at least the girls' fighting was doing something, and not destroying the house. Unfortunately, he doesn't have much to contribute himself, other than stand back, but he still sticks around for a bit, in case the snake lunged for someone too quickly and they would need to be phased out of the way.

Getting bruised and beaten in rapid succession succeeds in making the snake fly off the window, though at the heavy price of anyone who had physical contact with it likely having gotten stinky sewage on them. The snake crashes to the ground with a large, loud boom.

Within moments, it rises and is now fully intent on dealing with these annoying brats who ruined its quality time with the window. There appears to be no real damage to the snake, the only sign those attacks had done anything being a long crack on the edge of its tail. Then, in the blink of an eye, ol' Stinky lunges itself at the first thing that it sees: Lily. All the force it has goes into attempting to body slam the transformed girl.

Moonlight ended up landing and sliding back across the lawn from the sheer impact of her own kick. As she hears Winter's voice, she kicks at her feet, trying to fling said stinky sewage off her newly transformed boots.

"Winter...? Jasmine!"

That had certainly been fast. What did they do, jump across the city?

She is briefly happy to see them... before she notices the now considerably unhappy snake lunging for her. Eyes widen, and instinct drives her again, dodging to the side... and finding the act of that small leap throwing her across the entire yard. She slams a hand onto the ground and flips back onto her feet, blinking hard at that.

This whole enhanced speed and strength thing was going to take some getting used to.

It was also not exactly to her advantage to not really know those limitations DEALING with this thing...

Jasmine's thought process was going in two directions. One direction was that Winter was fast in Precure form and as a result of being carried the way she was she thought she might hurl.

The next thought she had was that holy shit her sister was fighting a giant snake.

So between all that, and seeing Lily the way she was, it was all Jasmine could do to announce herself with a stunned "... ey..." and a halfhearted wave.

Reimu chooses to attack again before it can recover from it's charge. She closes her eyes and holds one of her ofuda out in front of her, holding her fingers in a familiar (at least to her) hand sign, conjuring up a series of six multicolored light orbs that swirl around her. The ofuda in her hand glows brightly as it also begins glowing with it's own color.

"Spirit Sign: Fantasy Seal!" The light orbs pulse brighter before she launches the glowing ofuda in her hand at the snake statue, the other light orbs following in it's wake.

Marisa kept buzzing the snake like biplanes strafing King Kong on top of the Empire State Building. The night dazzled with shotgun blasts of colorful stars. She didn't seem to be doing much damage, but she could fly high enough that it probably couldn't reach her and she sure seemed to be annoying it.

She really wasn't sure what to make of the precures, but they seemed to be helping and she wasn't the type to look a gift horse in the mouth.

It's maybe a moment after she puts Jasmine down that she can feel that emptiness rolling through her. But as it clears, she realizes there's no time to take stock and figure out what's changed - Lily's in danger, and now so is Jasmine. The others seem to be able to take care of themselves, but... even if Jasmine wasn't a Precure - even if Winter hadn't been what she was - these two were important to her. She'd keep them safe. She'd keep everyone safe...!

That thought motivates her to dash in to strike the snake as Moonlight backs off, and while that broadcast mental threat almost stops her cold again, her need to protect at any cost is strong enough that it barely registers. With a shout, Cure Diamond drives a fist into the snake's... throat? She doesn't know what to call it, snakes don't really have anatomy beyond heads and the rest of them- ah, that's not important now! It's hard to say how much damage she did, but there was enough force that she's completely certain she's helping, and that's enough to keep her moving, keep her fighting.

Danny was about to lunge for Lily and phase her through the snake's attack, but was caught by that tell-tale feeling in his chest that made him feel like he still had a heart. By the time it passes, he's afraid he was too late and shouts out a quick "No!"

...only to realize that Lily had more than dodged the attack and was now somehow across the yard. Danny takes another look around the yard and realizes that suddenly, there was a whole group of girls fighting the snake, and that pretty much all of them can not only handle themselves, but actually fight back. Which is actually more than Danny can do himself.

He takes a step back to try and get out of the way, but then remembers there are other people stuck back in the basement who can't fight! He's pretty sure the girls don't care, but he figures it's better to say it just in case someone does expect him to be there when he's not, so...

He calls out a quick "I'm going back into the basement!" before he backs up some more and starts running into the house again.

(He doesn't realize that his run actually turns into flight as he literally dives through the front door.)

Reimu's seal attack coupled with the annoying buzzing around its head effectively distract the snake enough for it to not notice the oncoming throat attack until far too late. It connects full force. Not only does the snake fall to the ground but a sizable crack on its neck forms as a result of that attack. Unfortunately, all that comes out of that attack is that one crack.

Its next movement comes quickly after the damage to its slime-covered throat. Stinky quickly, and with no small amount of force, whips its long tail at Winter. Any sewage on its tail gets flung around and lands on anyone unlucky enough.

Upright and moving by the time Reimu's attack hits, along with Diamond's fist colliding into the snake, Moonlight barely registers anything but seeing the snake start to move as its hit. Her body moving practically of its own volition, she launches off the ground with a tremendous amount of fairly uncontrolled force. The ground that had been under her feet erupts, ~~sorry Elian~~, and she rockets back across the way to try and tackle Diamond out of the way.

Of course, even with the fairly impressive speed and strength she's moving at, there's no promise she'll reach Cure Diamond in time. Or if she does, she won't just tackle both of them into the next county over. That thought clicks in her head a millisecond after she's left the ground, and there's not much she can do after that, because she's also traveling straight towards her at a speed she's still not completely used to.

Michelle has been watching from the relative safety of her car since the snake emerged. At first she was in disbelief that the girls didn't run for it--didn't they realize if you fight them, you'll die?--but they actually seemed to know what they were doing.

Introspection aside, she picked a terrible time to get out of the car and check something. With a muttered curse, she throws herself to the ground just in time to avoid a glob of flying muck, which splatters over the side of her car instead. She looks over her shoulder, swears again at the sight of it--

Then the hollow feeling sweeps over her, and she freezes.

I'm really going to have to work on that, she reflects, once it passes. During times like right now, getting that distracted by an echo could be dangerous.

Marisa skidded to a halt about 20 feet up, directly abouve the smoke. She still felt kind of weird shouting spell incantations, but doing it all in your head didn't seem as powerful. This one was fairly short, anyways.

The chant crescendoed with "STAR SIGN: METEONIC SHOWER!" and with the full incantation, shouted, the spray of stars was brighter and lasted longer than any of the ones that had come before. Take that, you rotten snake bastard!

Diamond's still committed to her strike on the snake when it starts to bring its tail around, and all she can think as she squeezes her eyes shut is, this is really going to hurt-

And then suddenly she's moving, and she can feel the wind knocked out of her and a huge bruise blossoming from her side, but it doesn't seem... strong enough? She opens her eyes slowly and looks in surprise at Moonlight, who's just tackled her clear across the lawn; they fly for another second or two as Winter works her mouth to try and ask what's going on, but she's interrupted as they hit the grass and tumble, ending up in a pile of girl and shiny dress.

Another moment passes. Then: "Lily? Um... thank you for saving me..." Because really, what did you even say to that? And she's blushing, too. Oh, dear.

"PRECURE, SMILE CHARGE!"

While the other two Cures are busy rescuing each other from peril, Cure Sunny crashes into the scene, a bit late due to getting lost on the way here. Without hesitating a moment further, Sunny leaps high into the air in order to deliver a vicious right hook to the snake's jaw!

Jasmine has been standing, paralyzed, as she watches all this, both out of the sheer gravitas of the moment and watching what Lily had become...

... and then she charged towards Winter, in the path of the snake, and Jasmine acted as she had when she encountered the Blood Keys: on instinct.

This didn't come in the form of a punch, no. Instead, Jasmine thrust her hand out, a sphere of something black and something red generating in front of her open palm and firing at the snake in order to knock it off balance, in order to knock it away from her sister or off balance or something.

Seconds after it flew from her hand, Jasmine was left staring at it, her palm tingling as if it had been charged with some kind of power or energy or something dark. It felt like every nerve was alive, every cell was charged...

Jasmine grinned.

She took aim and fired off more and more volleys at the snake.

Reimu was starting to get a bit annoyed with how long this fight was going on. She had heard the bit about the snakes exploding when defeated, so she supposed it was best if they didn't smack it around too much, but they still needed to do something about them.

Swooping around, the flying shrine maiden summoned a few Yin Yang Orbs and launched them at the snake, supplementing them with some thrown homing talismans.

The bombardment of magical lights coupled with that hit to the jaw manages to send the snake flying. When it attempts to get up, those spheres and homing talismans make Stinky eat dirt once more. Needless to say, the poor snake is temporarily down and unable to defend against any attack that could come. More and more cracks have popped up from each attack, though thankfully none that'd destroy it and make that explosion happen.

...ouch.

So apparently, the first lesson of being a Precure is that it didn't mean you were invincible. Colliding with Diamond at that velocity is still quite a thing. Her head spins as they tumble across the yard, and is still spinning as they slide to a stop and the blue Cure speaks.

A second before how they wound up registers, she starts to say something.

It's only a second though, because as she does realize it, her face turns a dark shade of red, and her mouth opens. No words come out, but she just sort of... is there for another moment. The sounds of explosive magical energy and the snake being flung into the ground multiple times vaguely catches her attention, but another thought clicks into place at the same time: Hands, Lily! Your hands.

An extremely small sound escapes her lips, and Moonlight quickly lets go of her, and just as quickly tries to scramble back to her feet. She still tentatively extends a hand to help Cure Diamond up, but tries to divert her gaze back to the situation at hand. "It's- um, it's not a problem, Winter."

As lame as that sounds, it beat the thought running through her head, remembering when she'd told Winter she just as well wanted to be able to protect her as well as Winter could her own friends. She would just keep that one to herself.

Annie was here now. Good. And Jasmine... didn't seem to have moved?

Regardless! Snake was on the ground, and not looking... hot. She focused back on that, praying quietly it was dark enough to hide her embarrassment.

"We need to be careful! If that thing blows..."

Jasmine was just about to fire off another blast, but then she heard her sister's words and balked, freezing with her hand thrust outward, a sphere of energy welling up in her palm.

"It EXPLODES?! We... we have to get it out of here, right?!" she cried, eyes wide.

Lucky for them, someone was already on that! Danny had phased Ravi, Kotetsu, and Mr. Proud himself out onto the front lawn to make their escape. And, well, it was hard not to notice what the magical girls (plus girls-with-magic) had done out here.

Ravi sent the others on ahead and hung back to call out, "Don't kill the snake!"

The next spell blasted in an awkward spray into the night sky as Marisa tried mid cast to redirect it away from the snake. Hopefully the neighbors would think it was fireworks. "Don't kill it!?"

Ravi winced as he watched Marisa awkwardly redirect the spell, but hey, at least the warning had worked.

Unfortunately, at that point he realized he'd cornered himself into interacting with strangers. Executing a plan of action with people he was reasonably familiar with in a high-intensity situation, he could handle that. Stopping to exchange words with a group of people he didn't know? Hello social anxiety welcome to the party

He froze up for a second, staring at Marisa, completely blanking on what to say even though he knew what he needed to tell them. He gestured awkwardly toward the house, where most of the snakes were. "They--ah. They will explode." It was not as loud as the initial warning, but still a bit louder than a normal conversational tone, so hopefully it was audible.

"We are going to lead them away." Another vague gesture, this time toward Kotetsu and Danny absconding with David Proud across the lawn.
