He catches that chuckle - and is given pause staring wide-eyed with something in his head taking a dive for what he didn't catch, and then reels himself back up and in place, likely just a private thought, not necessarily anything.

Looks off and down along a corner, coughs, and looks back to Xander. "And umm a - " Now he chances a look to indicate the arm not in use, small downturn of his head for transparency. " - are you all right - ?"
dominateartimus: (You must be joking)

It was a passing thought of amusement regarding avoiding trouble, nothing too horrible with that. He wasn't going to say what it was even with the look Anthony was giving him. But, the moment the younger man asks and gestures to his arm, he would have to reveal the cause behind his injury at some point.

"I'm fine, Anthony. I'm getting used to using this arm again after a month of recovery." He answers, honestly.

Well, it was a little more than a month by this point, but he wanted to be careful. Especially with the hastily healed bullet wound in his shoulder by Ravindra.

" - Good, uh -- " Withdrawing a tad with his eye flicking aside and focused and aside and back. " - I apologize if I'm bothering you - by the way - ..."

Also honest and fairly steady, it's a just-in-case and semi-compulsive, prepared enough to bow out if he has been, besides - acknowledgement and greeting is done with, after all...
dominateartimus: (Genuine)

"You're not bothering me. In fact, I'm glad to see a familiar face in here." He states as he lowers himself down to Anthony's height with a small smile. "But, if you have some other things to get to, I won't keep you from them."

A part of him was rather curious about what Anthony had been up to during his time of being normal and who was able to return him to that state. Then again, he was still curious about the other zombies that were mentioned on a post. He wasn't going to push for answers, that wasn't a way to make the younger man feel comfortable around him.

[personal profile] scramasax 2014-01-22 06:59 am (UTC)(link)
Swallows. " - I'm - not - " he says, shaking his head and ending with it somewhat averted - passively, he's not going to look as if he's trying to ask Xander to keep from directing his attention anywhere else himself.
dominateartimus: (Excuse me?)

[personal profile] dominateartimus 2014-01-22 07:38 am (UTC)(link)
"Okay." His tone is still gentle before he moves to stand at his full height.

There's a moment of silence, aside from the brief sound of him taking a drink from the glass in his hand.

"...Are you going to volunteer for this upcoming mission?"

[personal profile] scramasax 2014-01-22 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
He actually watches Xander rising away a tad, idly.

Anticipates during the drink that he is going to say something else, and starts after the inquiry holding the space for a proper answer with an "Uhh -

- I - will - " Broke that off with a stiff nod before a "try to" - he will volunteer, whether it'll be taken is all that's in question. " -- I'm going to offer my swords - at least..."
dominateartimus: (Interest in the distance)

[personal profile] dominateartimus 2014-01-22 08:01 am (UTC)(link)
The answer he heard wasn't the one he was expecting and his eyebrows shot up in surprise. Sure, it was wrong of him to assume that Anthony might volunteer himself again for 'mission control' again, but he had done a good job at that. Seeing Anthony in combat would be a different thing entirely and the idea of the younger man becoming a soldier didn't sit well with him.

"When... did you learn how to use swords if I may ask?" He couldn't remember if Anthony had mentioned this before or not.

[personal profile] scramasax 2014-01-22 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
Meandering shaking his head in the negative. " -- I haven't - I -- ..." That went a touch abashedly hoarse; honest he'll be however likely it'll be taken as counterproductive to any reassurance. " - have pulsed two swords - ...though - I don't uhh - " Eye fixes aside again, another small head-shake. " - I don't think my other self was er - ...trained with them."
dominateartimus: (Something is wrong)

[personal profile] dominateartimus 2014-01-22 08:34 am (UTC)(link)
"...Oh." Well, that was certainly concerning. "Has anyone offered to help train you?"

Wait, why did he ask that? As much as he would like Anthony to be able to defend himself, he didn't want to see him take someone's life with those blades. Then again, he wasn't skilled with swords either, so he had no place to offering training.

[personal profile] scramasax 2014-01-22 08:51 am (UTC)(link)
Another nod. " - Nick Burkhardt -- yes."

Tone a little lighter and more hopeful, it's certainly far better than nothing - he still lacks finesse, but that's not especially anyone's fault.
dominateartimus: (Watch me fall apart)

[personal profile] dominateartimus 2014-01-22 09:03 am (UTC)(link)
The moment Anthony says Nick's name, Xander's expression drops slightly. "...I see."

That wasn't a bad thing, really. Nick was a great guy, especially for taking it upon himself to help Anthony despite his busy schedule. It was just that he and Nick had history together, from five years ago in Portland, Oregon before reuniting in Locke.

"I mean, that's good to hear." He corrected himself. "He knows what he's doing." Hopefully.

[personal profile] scramasax 2014-01-22 09:15 am (UTC)(link)
He isn't going to inquire on the look down and the stop and switch, own attention flits down and back in place, halts out a mild " - I er -- I know - " and returns to glancing about again, brow knitted a tad - so he thinks he does, at least, after that.
dominateartimus: (Strained smile)

[personal profile] dominateartimus 2014-01-23 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
"...I guess I didn't have to say that then since you already knew." He responds with a slight chuckle. "Sorry."

Perhaps it would be for the best to keep his mouth shut, especially if he couldn't stop himself from saying something. So, he takes another sip of his drink before he could say another word.

[personal profile] scramasax 2014-01-23 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
At the resuming of speaking itself Anthony's looks Xander dead-on in one linear move, and on the chuckle he feels a rather abrupt guilty jab setting the area just imside his ribcage ringing. " -- Oh, no no - I -- " Quick swallow, he'll take advantage of the tiny bit of time he's bought by Xander sipping his drink - " - didn't mean -- it like that - I promise, I'm er - I'm sorry -- uh -- should I -- ?"

Should I stop talking? he coheres and unwinds, retries it with a little more at-the-core intent. " - Are you sure I'm not bothering you...?" Cruised down to total lack of impression from a forced-high start.
dominateartimus: (This is how the story went)

[personal profile] dominateartimus 2014-01-23 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
With Anthony's attention on him, Xander wasn't bothered, but at the apology and stuttering, he couldn't help but frown briefly. What he said shouldn't have been taken as a jab, he was apologizing for running his mouth. He lowers his glass and shakes his head at the question.

"I'm sure you're not bothering me." He answers, even though there was some turmoil on the inside but he could deal with that later. "Don't worry about it, Anthony."

[personal profile] scramasax 2014-01-23 09:57 am (UTC)(link)
And the frown made it worse! " - You're sure -- I don't - " Look casts off one way and then the other as if to subconsciously ask for direction, in case, which'll be the better direction for him to bow out to - lifts his voice faux-nonchalantly high with an edge cracked. Not upset - simply blatantly awkward. " -- ...have anything important to say -- ...! Ev - even..."

Don't worry about it, indeed, surely Xander could keep himself occupied with some actual conversation!
dominateartimus: (Dark consideration)

[personal profile] dominateartimus 2014-01-24 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
"It doesn't matter if you don't have important to say." He replies in a gentle tone. "I guess I'm trying to say is that you can be at ease around me."

That wasn't awkward at all. The last time they spoke and the topic didn't involve the network went rather similar to their conversation today. Then again, there was quite an age gap between them. It probably didn't help that he barely spoke about himself at all, keeping himself at a distance from getting too attached.

[personal profile] scramasax 2014-01-27 09:46 am (UTC)(link)
The look he gives Xander is mostly sideways. Gentle tone and rather forward statement aren't doing anything more to convince him he hasn't slipped up if any need for them was perceived - he's gone and flustered himself into a hole.

Going to sit there rather acceptingly stuck at the bottom until he gets a thought together. Another "I'm sorry" is, it is more than obvious, going to dig it deeper.

Looks off forward then - and resolves to approach it from the opposite direction, eye flicks aside to Xander again and partly pulls his head turning with it. Takes a breath, not voiced enough for an "uhh".

" - I appreciate, um."

A good handful of things, really - how patient Xander's been willing to at least seem to come across, taking it upon himself to assure him he doesn't mind his appearance, so forth, hopefully at least one of them will be understood.
dominateartimus: (Genuine)

[personal profile] dominateartimus 2014-01-28 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Xander keeps quiet as Anthony digests his words, but his attention remains on the younger man as he glances around. Perhaps that was a bit too forward of him to say such a thing.

"You're welcome." He says in response, keeping the same tone as before despite Anthony trailing off with his words again.
