town meeting, alien breaking hoa rules

What: The Numbers discuss how to go about addressing the alien in the farmhouse. Nothing could go wrong, certainly?

... Yeah, that really is. Perhaps fortunately, he's not in the mood to get angry or anything right now. But unfortunately, lousy conversation starters with someone who's lousy at conversation himself don't get that far, either.

"Yeah, I guess."

She brushes a hand back through her hair, completely realizing how stupid that sounded. She lets out a small breath, before cocking her head to one side.

"Have you ever dealt with any of this stuff they're talking about personally?" she asks, and then adds. "I mean... have you seen any of it? Face to face?"

He just shrugs. "Yeah, a few times."

Or more than a few. He's involved himself on as many expeditions as he could slip away for. Even back at the beginning, when all he could do was generate some frost. Which might not have been the smartest thing, but he'd been gaining abilities pretty steadily since then.

She frowns.

And he was even younger than she was, considerably in fact. Yet she'd spent the last month just... worrying, mostly.

She pursues her lips for a moment, and then sighs.

"Anything I need to be ready for, then?" she asks, and casts her eyes at the individuals around the room. "Not that I'm in a position yet to exactly go hunting down an alien, but..."

It's in his nature to confront strange things, threatening things. If you stand back, they'll walk all over you. At least, that's what he'd learned in the schoolyard, having to deal with people who think he's weird, or simply those who think he'll be an easy target because he's small. Better to stand up for yourself, in the end.

"Kind of varies. Not sure how much we know about what this one can do, and the most consistent thing we've run up against besides the Blood Keys . . ." A little, barely perceptible pause, there, before he continues. "... would be the snake statues. Which are strong and tough to damage, but really slow and easy to outmanuever."

Especially when you have the abilities he does. Dodging around the statues is laughably easy for him, even if he's not much good in actually damaging them.

Well, that was getting somewhere with some sort of conversation, at least. Lily gives him a curious look. These "snake statues" were certainly something she hadn't encountered yet, though she'd heard or read of them, at least.

"Certainly not something I'd be able to deal with then, yet, I suppose," she muses. "Enhanced or not, a gang member is one thing compared to... that."

Which sounded like an honest to goodness monster. Fitting perhaps, given her past life's memories, but...

"Just how tough are you talking?"
