Okay so. Question. For everyone.

I'm kind of freaking out a little bit? Because the other day I really and actually kind of saved my least favorite person in school when she kind of got cut because she sent me on a stupid dare (don't do a stupid dare when you know it's in a bad area. That's common sense, but she is really annoying tbf). But it was with some stupid spell like in old action shows where you had to yell out your attacks and this is decidedly not normal.

I mean it's not violent, so it's okay right? I can help people with it and it's useful right? Except I don't know what the hell I'm going to do with a spell that can make someone unstabbed.

And I am really freaking out because I do not understand what the fuck wind has to do with making people unstabbed.

Healing. The word is healing except that sound so stupid like something from some kind of fantasy movie or comic or game or something omg. But like. What if my mom finds out???

I feel obligated to do something good with it but I don't know what or how I mean come on I'm only 17 and this is a lot of responsibility and I haven't slept in like two days because what if I wake up with wings or gills or I torch my room in my sleep or something.

[She will tell him to sit and drop the blanket on him again before turning the movie on.]

[He will leave some of the blanket for her!]

[Haha nope. He's a guy and she is at least aware of that so she's kind of sitting a foot away. That's not a thing she wants to explain to her mom.]

[He will hog the blanket then and drink his tea and watch the movie in silence because he's used to listening to people talk through movies.]

[There will be a few moments where she'll talk about the film making in a scene. Just to point out where the set was from another movie.

And how this was the first time this particular camera angle was used in mainstream cinema.

And how the effects here were cutting edge technology at the time and it was done with this method. She gets excited about this, talking a little with her hands, actually pointing and getting this dumb smile on her face. She still looks exhausted but it's obvious she kind of knows what she's talking about.]

[What a nerd. But he doesn't mind this, smiling a little and nodding as she talks, leaning in sometimes to try to catch a better look at the scene.]

[She points out the director's trademark in the movie, too. Like one animation studio always uses a yellow Volkswagen bug, and one comic writer is a bit part in every film based on his creations. At a later point she points out a nod to an older film, too.]

[SO MUCH TRIVIA he glances at her after the first movie.]

You like films, huh?

I used to watch a lot with my mom when I was a kid. She wanted to work on movie soundtracks when she was in high school.

That's cool.

That's really cool. I've only ever watched movies, so it's cool that you know a lot about what went on behind the scenes.

I took an elective about film making freshman year. It's really interesting!

What sorts of things do you learn?

[phoenix_temple]

A lot about movie history--you can see pterodactyls in the background of some scenes in Citizen Kane because they had to reuse sets. And why camera shots worked in certain situations--that was the same unit. Citizen Kane is a cinematic masterpiece, if you haven't seen it. And the critical importance of old movies.

... [He looks at her round-eyed because wow!]

I don't usually pay attention, but that's pretty amazing. I'll watch it some time and pay attention.

Do you want to watch something else? I promise I won't talk through it...

If you want. Why not? The storm doesn't look like it'll let up anytime soon anyway.

[phoenix_temple]

[She will get up and find another movie--something she thinks he'll like based on the previous one! And before it starts, explain that this is one of her mom's absolute favorites and if you could play a DVD to death, she probably would have by now.]

[He gives her a grin.] If she finds out I watched it, will there be an entire conversation about it?

Probably. [She yawns a little.] You might want to avoid the topic.

I'll keep that in mind. Don't talk about the favorite movie to your mom unless I'm prepared for the nerding.

Don't make it sound so bad. She knows a lot, too.
