Two Jewels: Garnet Earrings [Video | Water Trough]
[There's that rippling image of a white horse again. From what more can be seen of her than her head, she's lying (upright) along her trough, again looking sideways into the water. There are a few beats of nothing - then she turns her head slightly closer, and her mouth opens.]
Well?
[Her voice, as before, is lilting and inflected. And a bit hasty.]
How has everyone's day been?

Long and boring? Problem sets and debugging code for commercial craft nav systems seems really kind of pointless in the face of all this.

Assuming those words are for me, you'll have to forgive me, but I haven't learned how to read yet.
[visual] /jack if that's okay
after his whole 'that is a horse wait no that is a pony why is it talking' momentbut learning this kind of jolts a little more.blame him being a teacher for over sixty years.
eventually he manages a connection by - and he'll hate himself later - writing on a television screen with a marker. so have an old man staring at you, Cinderella, who's managed to get over most of his confusion and now mostly looks /intent/]
Would you care to? Learn, that is.
[visual] Perfectly fine on my end!
Oh?
Why, well, yes, I certainly would! Even if I haven't the faintest idea how, exactly, lessons would work. What with my being here, and all.

besides, he always did like Mr. Ed.]
Mm. Perhaps over this? [he taps the screen.]

Sorry. Just. Saying that my week was long and boring? Problem sets and debugging code for commercial craft nav systems... which... means nothing to you.
Uh, you know... the big metal birds that humans fly in? I make sure their brains work right. They're kind of dumb.

It's Friday, so, pretty good, actually.

Oh! Because that's when the school week ends - is that it?

Guess that sort of thing doesn't really matter much to you, huh?

[He's just a whiner, feel free to ignore him.]

As fine as it could be, under the circumstances. Why do you wanna know?

[Which downplays the simple fact that she's quite excited to finally be talking to people, but this isn't a lie, either.]
[audio]
It's not fantastic in any way, and it's probably the only thing we do all have in common. Besides, no one knows everyone who's on the network. It gets a little weird when people you've never talked to start asking you how your day has been.

[ He's not exactly well-versed in the days of horses, but hey. Manners were manners. ]

Ah-ho~ well, you know - rather plain, it isn't as if I can go anywhere, after all, but I can't say I had any trouble, and the weather's been most livable, hasn't it? Pleasant of you to ask - oh dear, I don't think that I've got your name?

[ As far as conversing goes, getting the weather out of the way is a timeless staple! Thoughtfully, he tacks on: ]
I also never thought I'd say it, but "plain" sounds pretty good, lately.

... Is this going to a regular thing with you?

We had a Nineties Friday at work today. Which I guess if you're a horse might be a little before your time, but me and the coworkers had fun and some of the customers seemed to enjoy it. All sorts of music from when we were kids, it was great.
