I've been thinking. I've been thinking for a long time now.

They -- the enemy, that is. They treat us all as something inhuman, even the ones whose bodies haven't changed. We were all born human... animal company excluded, of course. But what are we now? Some of us are turning into monsters. Even those of us who look human are... something that aren't.

...I mean, look at me. I'm a soulless husk when you get down to it.

I asked you all something when I first arrived here. It feels like a long time ago now, but tell me. What do you think you can do?

Yes, I can. I've done it a few times now. I'm purple, if you're wondering.

And it's preformed by... singing. Huh.

I seriously hope that's not a requirement over here. It sounds a bit embarrassing to be honest.

Colour-coded outfits. Annie's orange, Winter's blue. It's like something a few designers I know would cook up.

Oh. Right.

...God. That's still kind of ridiculous to think about. And that it's supposed to be me.

The Sequin Incident of '08 is something I may never live down. But we've all had our ideas that seemed good at the time.

Everyone makes bad decisions in high school. I just happen to be a pageant girl, so when mine are bad, everyone knows it.

Well yes, I can't argue with that.

I guess if I have to get some sort of frilly outfit, I may as well hope for something decent.

And something you can fight in. I doubt you stand and sing like I do.

I freeze up on stage trying to give a speech. I've successfully humiliated myself on every date I've been on in my life.

Talking to people normally? No issues.

Anything outside of that? We've got a problem.

So singing? Not happening.

Maybe we're lucky in our own way.

Do you sing normally, outside all of this, or is it just... something that came up with the pulses?

I'm a pageant girl. Have been since I was five years old, and if I may say, I'm a good one. Singing is the most cliche thing you can possibly do in the talent portion, but why change now?

I suppose so, then. Still a ... unique way to enter a fight. Seems like it'd attract a lot of attention.
