I've been thinking. I've been thinking for a long time now.

They -- the enemy, that is. They treat us all as something inhuman, even the ones whose bodies haven't changed. We were all born human... animal company excluded, of course. But what are we now? Some of us are turning into monsters. Even those of us who look human are... something that aren't.

...I mean, look at me. I'm a soulless husk when you get down to it.

I asked you all something when I first arrived here. It feels like a long time ago now, but tell me. What do you think you can do?

[She shakes her head.]

I've barely been in this place for more than two months! Barely anyone here knows me.

They've set pulse traps. They have dogs that can identify it, and they used a bird once, as well. And that's not even mentioning the monsters that infest the local wildlife. You can't just sit around. There's no such thing as a safe zone in Locke City, and if this continues, there won't be any in the entire world.

[Well, when you put it like that.]

I... I... T-they c-can do that?

[She legitimately doesn't know what to say. You're kind of scaring her.]

Do you think Candy Rodriguez died because she went looking for trouble? Or Miss Bitou, or that blue-haired kid on the news, or anybody else they've disappeared off the streets? Trouble went looking for them.

[she doesn't know who those people are]

A-and... I guess trouble is something that's present a lot around here. Especially now that we're all becoming awakened.

I g-got it explained to me somewhat the first time, and people have been telling me things ever since.

I know that we're apparently... people or things from another world or another time or something equally weird, and that we're all fighting aliens and exploding, stone snakes. That's pretty strange.

And I know that the police are evil and shouldn't be trusted at all. We also have people all around town that can help us, doctors, police and all that.

Well, the one behind the snakes is on our side now. Thunder's teamed up with that gang on the news, and there's something seriously off about them. We'll need to stop them first.

He is? That's... good I guess.

[She really needs to get more in touch with all this.]

Ugh, [She shudders.] Those gang members. There really is something really wrong about them. I can't do anything to stop them though. At least I don't live near them.

Some of us can fight. Some, well.

That's good. I mean, I'm just a normal high school student. At least, for now.

*Kari simply switches to video, lifts up her pearl-cage necklace again, and points at the purple pearl inside.*

[It switches and Rakka stares wide-eyed at the necklace. Her mouth tries to form words for a few seconds.]
