I have a question. Has anyone gotten an item from an echo that won't go away? Or, I guess in this case, is stuck? Because I woke up with this--

[The video moves and focuses on her left hand, where a very modest ring sits on her ring finger. It's pretty obvious from how red it is around it that she's been working to try to get it off.]

And I've tried just about everything I can think of and it will not come off. It's too tight. I don't even know where it came from. I can assume, but I have a party to go to in a few days and I really don't want to explain to my college friends that I didn't suddenly get married over break.

[She huffs slightly.]

How do I get rid of this thing?

That's OK, I don't mind. I've made a few connections, and there's always my father's business to fall back on if all else fails. I'm trying to avoid that though.

It's nice that you have that, though. You don't have to worry about going without a job after you graduate.

Well yeah, although it doesn't really feel fair. I'm hoping to be able to get something on my own.

Well... uh... my father's company is very profitable so he's covering my tuition.

It's okay, it's just-- [She tries not to make a face. It wasn't his fault.] You just reminded me how far in-debt I'm going to be in a few years, that's all.

Yeah you'd think they'd be more interested in giving grants for that kind of thing since Doctors are in such high demand.

There is some loan forgiveness if you get into certain fields of medicine, but I think that it's expected that, if you get a medical degree, you'll make lots of money, so the debt isn't an issue.

Doesn't that just force people into the medical fields that do pay well instead of the ones that are still necessary but don't?

Usually, at least at first. There are those that are in it for the money, usually you see more of those in school drop out pretty early in, once they find out what all is involved. There are still a lot of us who do what we do because we feel compelled to.
