[The feed comes on to a certain redhead. She looks frazzled to say the least, and a bit irritated to boot.]

I have a question. Has anyone gotten an item from an echo that won't go away? Or, I guess in this case, is stuck? Because I woke up with this--

[The video moves and focuses on her left hand, where a very modest ring sits on her ring finger. It's pretty obvious from how red it is around it that she's been working to try to get it off.]

And I've tried just about everything I can think of and it will not come off. It's too tight. I don't even know where it came from. I can assume, but I have a party to go to in a few days and I really don't want to explain to my college friends that I didn't suddenly get married over break.

[She huffs slightly.]

How do I get rid of this thing?

[Elly nearly dropped her phone. Fireballs, floating cities and mysteriously appearing rings were fine by her, but being able to become incorporeal, that was crossing some strange line, apparently.]

How did you do that?

I just....thought about it?

[how else is one supposed to do it, after all?]

W-well, it is now. I had a really hard time controlling it before, but now...yeah, it's really easy for small stuff like that.

That might work, since I don't want to damage it. It sounds a lot more appealing than cutting it off.

I'm out by the university, if that's close. I'm pretty open.

I guess I could get there pretty easily, sure...

Uh. Where by the university? I...don't really know the campus that well.

What would be more convenient for you? I have a car, so I can meet you just about anywhere.

Oh! Uh, then...

There's actually a small park not far from here, it's a little easier for me to get there. Hang on, let me get the address, uh...okay, there!

[He switches to text briefly to give her the address, wherever it is HAHAHA...but at the very least, it's not particularly far away--close to the center of the city, but not in it.]

I can be there in like 15 minutes. Is that--does that work for you?

That should be fine. I'll see you then.

[and true to his promise, Danny is sitting on a bench with his usual black hat covering (most of) his white hair and his left arm in a sling. He's near the edge of the park, facing the road and keeping an eye out for anyone who looks like Elly.]

[While bundled up, it's very hard to miss that much red hair. Danny was a bit harder to distinguish, and she almost missed him completely. She managed to catch the teen on the bench, however, and waved to him.]

[He catches sight of the hair about the same time that she starts waving. Danny waves back using his good arm, and then scooches over from the middle of the bench to the side, making room for Elly to sit down and get settled for "the operation."]

Hi! S-so uh...um. Yeah--the ring. What hand is it on, again?

[She does so. Somehow the question makes her feel a bit awkward again, given the nature of what it likely was.]

Left.

[Danny is completely unaware of ring etiquette and therefore any potential implications of it being the left hand.]

Okay, uh--could you hold it up? And like. Spread out the fingers, so that I don't accidentally turn you intangible too.

[And then maybe, possibly, accidentally possess you. Nobody wants that, not at all.]

[She looks somewhat alarmed.]

Are you sure this is safe?

It should be, yeah! I-I just have to be careful is all--I wanna make sure I have as much space as possible. Like, uh...that one board game, Operation.

And what's the chance you'll hit the sides?

[She's liking this less and less the more he talks about it.]

Not that high if I get some space, I don't think. I have a pretty steady hand.

...I don't like this. I don't like this at all.

[Regardless, she spreads her fingers as far as they can go, leaning away from her hand, and closing her eyes in a deep grimace. Better do this quick, Danny, she might reconsider.]

[Well now you're making him nervous! Nonetheless, Danny steels himself.]

Okay, okay...

[He takes a deep breath, lets it out, and then moves his hand slowly, carefully over hers. Making sure not to touch any part of her actual hand, he uses his pointer finger and thumb to just barely touch the ring. Alright, hard part over. Now...

Danny focuses on the intangibility, spreading it from his arm to the ring. He pulls the ring through her (which might feel a little funny) and then moves his hand away from hers, turning it solid again. Lo and behold, her ring sits in his open palm.]

There! Knew I could do it.

[She almost jerks her hand away when she feels the ring start to pass through, but, biting the inside of her lip, manages to hold still. She didn't realize that she had been holding her breath until she breathed in deeply as soon as Danny spoke.]

That was terrifying.

Y-yeah, I guess it kind of is, the first few times it happens. [he almost moves his arm out of the sling to scratch the back of his neck as he usually would, but then thinks better of it and leaves it down.]

But uh...it worked, right? Um. Here. [He offers the open hand, ring in his palm, to her.]

[She takes it.]

Thank you. What can I do to return the favor?
