On the 12th I spoke with Detective Sherman. He said:
there's only one alien on earth
it's in a farmhouse (sounds familiar??)
the farmhouse is guarded by "altered" police
the alien can create stuff out of "almost nothing"
described it as a caveman looking at an atomic bomb
doesn't look human
isn't invincible
needs to kill the snake underground before other aliens can come

Agrees with the other information post. We have some hard hitters in the network... Taking out the big cheese might be possible. Thought about the girl with the laser beam or [ WHAT WAS HER NA-- oh ] Chris's lasers(? from the mines) could work but the alien is capable of long distance offense too

Would definitely like your opinion. I haven't posted this openly because Idk if someone's going to run there with a half-formed plan

[ network numbers aren't visible to him by default, so of those he does know, these are the only numbers he wants the opinion of on this matter and trusts not to spill the beans indiscriminately.

after obtaining chris' network number from lyall, christobel starsky is sent a copy/paste message. ]

Do you know the girl who made the big laser show around the beginning of November is

Well, that's a relief, that there's only one. I was certain there were more than that. I wouldn't be of much use in taking it out, but I am quite interested in investigating further. You probably did the right thing in not posting this openly. I know several people who *would* have run out right away, and probably gotten themselves hurt.

I have spoken with David Proud about that "snake". His people called it Wise One, and it is apparently pink. Those snakes he carved are made out of its "skin". But he didn't really have much more of use to say, beyond that he knows of it. We really ought to find a way to communicate with it.

[well shit, that's a lot of information to take in. confirms they need to stop Thunder from killing the thing, though.]

How did you get him to answer you?

So if we take out this alien, we mess up their plans? It might work out better if we try to go in and take care of this quietly.

I can help with the close combat.

I am ever the humble servant of the Network, when it comes to blowing things up.

Range on 'em is pretty far. I'll need to cook up some extra juice though, I can't use them for very long at present.

Definitely need to take this alien out somehow. Long range or otherwise.

[info's probably legit, then. or as legit as sherman thinks it is.]

Thunder Corp has excavation equipment in the Tuning Towers basement. And whatever they are building in the Dead District probably is bad news for us.

I know we can. I can fight, others can fight, and with enough of us there, we can take them by surprise before they can bring enough additional firepower into the area.

Might not be a bad idea to have one of them on hand anyway just in case things get bad.

Yeah. I'd guess something like that would take a lot of time or energy. Hope so, anyway.

No, I don't. I wonder if putting up a general post saying "Attention: Laser Beam Girl" would get her attention.

I'm down with that.

Besides, they might realize we're on to something and move the alien if we take too long to act.

I'm afraid not, though we do have a psychic who may be of some use. I don't have his number, specifically... or a means down to meet it, just yet, though.

"Laser beam girl" could be a few people. It might be Chris Starsky, though. Was "laser beam girl" part robot?

I do. Her name is Marisa.

[Assuming the purpose of the question - sets his mind going.]

[personal profile] scramasax 2013-12-24 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[Essentially what he thought he might be asked.

Pauses. Think think think, fidgeting with the pen in the air above the page.]
She seems fearless. [This he figures could have implications one way or the other.] She also seems independent. Still, I think that she can be told to listen when it's vital.

[At least when it is - he was there when she complied with being strongly told not to blast the subway sculptures in spite of her apparent itching to do so.]

[personal profile] scramasax 2013-12-24 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[Immediate thought is to clarify which part of it but he'll go ahead and push it down and assume the simplest first...]

She didn't use it She didn't use that skill on the statues in the subway (when we went to find David Proud) because she was told it would have been too much of a risk. I don't think that she would have had any reservations about it otherwise.

[Possibly not encouraging.]

[personal profile] scramasax 2013-12-25 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
I don't... I apologize. One of the others in school may (I would ask Alex Kusnitz, Bakura, or Toshiro, and I have all of their numbers if they may help).

I am trying to think of what our next move should be.

Do we know they can't send another to replace him if we take him out? Will he know you got this information from Sherman and be prepared for someone to try to attack him?

If we take out the alien, it means nothing if the snake is destroyed and the others are able to come. But if we do, our enemies will lose their technology advantage, at least until he is replaced, if he can be replaced.

Our priority I think should be on protecting the snake. With the alien, I think it is better to keep an eye on him until we know more. Definitely we should find what farmhouse they are keeping him in, as long as they don't know that we know. It would give us an advantage.

[personal profile] professorwolf 2013-12-29 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I tend to support investigation. The information you obtained from the detective isn't very complete, and we would be better served getting more before we attempt an attack.

And I say that not *just* because I'm more of a liability in an attack than an asset. I don't want anyone rushing in unprepared and getting hurt, and then us failing to actually wound or destroy the creature on top of it.

Let me ask Chris if I can share her number. I'd hate to wind up with her angry with me.

durrrr I so dropped the ball here :(

[personal profile] reapsthewind 2014-01-06 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
... well it's limited by how well I can see. I think... if I had to guess, like...

It's limited by the power of the blast, not the type? It's not exactly a real laser, it's more a blast of some kind of superheated energy, almost like a plasma. I think... probably maximum range is half a mile, maybe a little more than that. If I really juiced it up I might be able to push it to a full mile. But again, I'm limited by how well I can see the damn target.
