[It wasn't his original intention to simply disappear for so long. The move had, certainly, made John exceptionally busy, but the last few weeks had him avoiding the network for an entirely different reason--one that he didn't even really want to bring up to his friends. Still, trying to ignore the cause of his problems wasn't going to get him anywhere, which was why, with a heavy sigh, John was fishing out his phone and tapping his number into the device.
The video feed opens up with him looking a little sheepishly at the camera, a tired smile gracing his features. There's the slightest tremble to his hands, but he's quick to hide a jostling view by setting his phone down on the table. John clears his throat quietly and manages a tiny laugh.]
It's been a while, yeah? Sorry, I've... been a bit preoccupied.
[He scrubs a hand through his hair, not really sure where he's even going with this. For the briefest of moments, John considers letting the network know about his new, ah, condition, but he's quick to brush that aside, smiling much brighter this time.]
I moved. [The feed goes dark for a moment before John treats the network to a view of his new apartment, complete with stacks upon stacks of boxes.] Anthony's here, too.
[He goes quiet for a moment, trying to figure out what to say next.]
I've had a few people fill me in on a handful of things, but I suppose that's all on my end. Who's doing what nowadays, hm? [He grins.] And did anyone actually miss me?
[John's flattering himself now, but whatever. Anything to keep them from asking unbecoming questions, right?]

Look, if I need some sugar, you'll be the first I call. I'll call you before I even think about heading to the supermarket. Deal?

[Then again, that probably explained his absence and he felt bad for not calling to check in with him. Too occupied by his own issues.]

You should come see the new place sometime. If you don't mind all the boxes. :)
[Voice]
I'm all too familiar with boxes being everywhere. [A small chuckle.] Might be a good idea, if you don't mind me stopping by before Thursday.

[He makes a mental note to ask Anthony about guests--and to do it soon.]
I'll try to clear off the couch or one of the chairs for you, yeah?

[Action]
Anthony's drifted over to one of those stacks of boxes as the message is sent. Idly tips to lightly rest against it, eyes coasting and blank between John and this wall or another.
He's got it in his mind to apologize - he's had it there for a while - isn't wholly convinced that this really wouldn't have been necessary if not for needing the space for two apparent paranormally-touched. That or ask if everything is all right - that, too, he doesn't count on the truth of a positive answer for.
Either thought as held forward would be neutral - if anxious, vaguely. Neutrally anxious.]
[Action]
I didn't think we had that much to bring over. Did you?
[He's not lying! John's pretty surprised by how much stuff he's managed to accumulate over the years.]
[Action]
[Comes not lifted out of a low, hollow tone, but there's a little waver of a conversational laugh in there - all the more a bit amusedly surprised indeed with his lack of perspective, given that he'd not moved in with much in the first place!]

We'll get it all sorted out soon enough.
[--or you know, just faster than when John had moved by himself. Things had sat in boxes for close to a year (some even longer) before he'd finally put it all somewhere.]
Is there anything you still needed in your room?

[He laughs]
I moved, too. With, uh, that Shou guy? It's safer for Mom this way.
[ video ]
[John grins when he sees Killian, and when the guy says that he was missed? Well, that's just the icing on top of the cake.]
Been a lot on the news recently. [His smile falters a little now.] How is your mum? I'm glad Shou was able to take you in, but...
[His eyebrows lift, quietly questioning.]
[ video ]
[Yeah]
On the plus side, I got a job out of all this.

So long as she's well--does she know about your new job? Bet she's pretty damn proud of you for landing it.

But I put up a status notification about it...
Christ, she's angry with me now, isn't she? :/

That's just what she said, don't ask me to understand what's going on inside her head.
