Casino Trip [Closed]

Who: Thomas and Hajime
What: Thomas takes Hajime out to a casino and things go south from there
Where: The nearest casino
When: Night of the 22nd

There were certain benefits to a large bugman almost killing you. Thomas had managed to learn that recently as Hajime had finally broke down and agreed to go to the casino with him after he got a random pain in his side while talking to him. It had nothing to do with the attack, but hey. What works works. Since it worked, the duo now found themselves on the highway, on their way to said casino.

"I'm telling you Hajime, it'll be fun and it'll help you relax. This is what we do for eachother. You make sure I don't get myself killed and I make sure you loosen up. It's a beautiful symbiotic relationship. Anyway, we're almost there so no weaseling out now."

On queue, the appropriate exit came up and Thomas pulled the garish Prius off to the side before pulling up to the front of the casino. Oddly, the car was swarmed with more than just a valet as they exited, a few men in suits offering to shake their hands and welcoming them. The two of them being offered some complimentary chips as they're ushered into the casino's lobby.

"... See? It's already going great!"

Hajime had been complaining, albeit in a quiet, almost sulky way, the entire trip to the casino. He had too many work responsibilities to run out on like this, he was a monster anyway, this would probably not end well, and so on and so forth. But he still felt unspeakably bad about what he'd done, and so he let Thomas drag him to the casino.

"What did you do?" This treatment wasn't normal. Something here was very wrong. Hajime was polite and shook the hands that were offered for the shaking, but still. He didn't think Thomas was the sort to show up with nearly enough money as what it would take to get a casino worked up this badly.

That was when he saw the sign: "INTERNATIONAL ADVERTISING EXPO." That couldn't have anything to do with it, could it?

"But..." Hajime stared at those chips. "Something's not...I mean...you don't have one of those club card things here, do you?" He'd seen ads for those things. Sign up for a membership card, get perks. "And I've had enough of the universe's 'gifts' lately."

Still, if he had to be in a casino, spending money that wasn't his did seem like the way to go...but there had to be a catch. There just had to be. He kept trying to read that sign. It just seemed important to their current situation somehow.

"What do I think about cards?" Hajime echoed. "They called me Joker and I'm getting playing cards out of nowhere, I think they need to leave me alone." He followed after Thomas anyway, mostly because Thomas seemed to have a better idea of what he was doing here than Hajime did. Even though the casino had been right there this whole time, Hajime had never been. "I'm pretty sure I shouldn't be allowed near cards in case something happens."

"Not the karaoke area. Or at least, you can sing, and I'll just sit and watch." There was no way he was going to get up there and sing. No way, no how, not happening. "But I guess we could try the roulette table?" That seemed safe enough. What could go wrong playing roulette?

"But--" Hajime wanted to protest about the karaoke, but no, it was too late. He looked down at the chips Thomas laid down on red and tossed a couple onto black. "There. Now we have to win something."

Hajime stared at the marble, which seemed to have defied all forms of physics. And logic. "How did that even happen?" It should have landed on black by all rights, but no, it had hit red again. Was it those powers Thomas kept going on about? He tossed another chip onto the board. Maybe this next time would be different.

Hajime did not want to tip off casino staff that there was some likely cheating of some sort going on there, but he also couldn't just sit there and do nothing. "How are you doing that?!" It was all he could do to keep his voice down.

He looked at his chips again. "You put yours down first." And then he'd pick the same square. Because it seemed as though that was currently the only way to win at this mess.
