[closed] hey teacher! leave them kids alone!!
Who: Holly Avalon, Richard Locke
When: 11/22 late morning
Where: Locke City High
What: A cute, lost grade schooler runs into a scary high school chem teacher.
[Lunch breaks were truly wondrous things, as Richard's come to find. Not only were they breaks away from students and teaching, but one could do whatever they please during these precious breaks. The activity of choice today for Mr. Locke? Walking around the school while munching on a muffin from the cafeteria. The perk of being a teacher was that no one bothered to stop you while wandering the halls.
The muffin gets another bite taken out of it as Richard nears a corner. He has to admit, as tiring as teaching may be, it's oddly... enjoyable. Being around all these kids, good or bad alike, has made him feel more alive than he's felt in ages. It's nice, though a niceness that's unlikely to last for too much longer. Shame he couldn't have chosen this profession instead of his real one.
Further such musings pop into his mind as the corner gets rounded. Maybe his mind isn't particularly focused on the surroundings because of said musings, as well.]

Which would have been easy if she hadn't stopped to look out the hall windows at the track and field set up with a wondrous glance. They had everything! And for a public school it was all in very good condition, at least from what she could see from this distance.
All would have been fine if she'd turned back around and still been with the group of other middle schoolers touring their prospective next location on their 'road to success'. However- they weren't there.
The hallway was empty, all the kids were in class and she was left alone.]
Ahhh...
[Okay, well... smart choice would be to go back to the auditorium which is where they were supposed to end up in. Except she didn't know where that was and with increasing panic, because she was a middle schooler lost in the high school she'd be going to next yer, she picked up her pace down the hall. She wasn't watching where she was going, not really, just almost jogging down the hall, the ribbon a friend had put in her hair bouncing as she moved.
It's okay, really, she'll just go back to the main entrance and ask a staff member. No harm done.]
Ah!
[Except she ran around a corner and was on a collision course with an adult, great first impression Holly, almost running over maybe a teacher.]

The suddenness of it coupled with his inattentiveness causes him to be caught nearly completely off guard, enough so he stumbles backwards a few steps. Quick reflexes manage to kick into gear to prevent his butt from painfully getting acquainted with the floor
Unfortunately, his half-eaten muffin is not nearly so fortunate. It had fallen out of Richard's hand and now sits oh so solemnly on the tilted floor. Poor, poor muffin and its tragic fate. Never to be fully digested in this lifetime.]

I'm so sorry!
[She almost squeaks it out, her blush high on her cheeks for colliding with a teacher and managing to trip in the same action. How is this- she's an athlete and really good at running!]
Are you okay?
no subject
I'm all right.
[His voice sounds a bit gentler than normal to ensure she doesn't freak out any further. A hand gets extended to help her up.]
Yourself?
no subject
Are you sure you're okay? I should have been looking but I got lost and got worried- [Annnd she's babbling, only realizing as she takes a breath to continue. She abruptly stops talking, her eyebrows furrowing, waiting for an answer.]
no subject
Yes, I'm certain and it had been as much my fault as your own.
[His voice remains calm and gentle, if reassuring so to emphasize the fact he's not injured. Hmm... she had mentioned being lost so maybe this is a transfer student?]
You're new to the high school?
no subject
No-um. I'm here on a school visit from Locke City Middle School, I'll be going here next year. I kind of got distracted by your track equipment, it's all really impressive!
[More like she was completely entranced by it all and couldn't wait to try out for the team!]
no subject
I see. I can help you find your group, if you'd like.
[The least he could do for running into her is help out. It's not as though he has anywhere to be right now, either.]
no subject
That would be very nice. Thanks! Oh- [Standing a little straighter she holds out a hand in introduction.] I'm Holly Avalon. [While manners weren't strictly enforced in her home, she still had them.]
no subject
Richard Locke. A pleasure.
[It really is. Seeing as student, a lost grade schooler at that, behave with this level of manners? It's a very pleasant surprise.]
Do you've any idea where your group may have gone?
no subject
We were supposed to end up in the Auditorium for an address from the Principal and then lunch.
[She's sure there was more of the tour left but she couldn't remember all thing things they were supposed to see. She vaguely remembered some class room they were going to be shown but it wasn't a lot of info to go on.]

[As he repeats the location, the teeniest bit of surprise pops up on his face. It's not that a visiting group going there is surprising but...]
It seems you managed to venture to the opposite end of the school.
[Ah well, a walk won't hurt either of them. Finding oneself on the opposite end of a high school isn't anything as bad as say being stuck on the opposite end of town.]
no subject
[She's pulling at a piece of her hair in embarrassment. How did she even manage this? And when she was here to be shown where everything was and give her an idea if this was the school she wanted to go to. Of course she knew she'd be going here, her parents didn't have enough money to send her to a fancy private school.]
no subject
It's all right. You'll receive a personalized tour of the building as a result.
[As good a tour as a chem teacher could give, anyway.]
no subject
Lead the way Mr Locke! [She'll have to ask her brother if he had a Mr. Locke as a teacher, and secretly she's hoping when she goes here in a year that she gets him for a class. He seems really nice, not one of those angry teachers that make you worried every day.]
no subject
Hmm.
[Not one to have to be told twice, Richard begins walking. It doesn't take long for him to speak up so to avoid any potentially awkward silences.]
You're interested in track and field?
no subject
I'm not the best at the long jumps, but I'm getting a lot better in the 200 meter. [She's talking animatedly, her hands motioning excitedly as she explains.]
Do you coach anything?
no subject
If you keep on improving, you may end up leading the high school team to victory.
[A teeny bit of amusement plays in his eyes as he watches her animated talking. It's been a while since the atmosphere felt this light when talking with someone.]
No, I don't. I never considered the idea, honestly.
no subject
Thank you. [Swinging her arms in beside her as she walks she continues.] I hope I can. It'd be fun to go to nationals with a team! [Glancing back up she smiles again, this one content.]
no subject
Practice and dedication can take you to nationals and even beyond.
I am so incredibly sorry for how long this took.
Of course she's gotta hope this being apart of the network thing doesn't come in the way. Possibly being a witch kind of puts a damper on track & field.]
no worries at all! always happy to tag back <3
You seem the type capable of bringing the amazing to fruition.
she will totally have a class with him if he's still there in august!
Thank you! I hope so! I'll give it my best no matter if we make it or not.
no subject
[What more could a team ask for then someone so seemingly dedicated and so willing do to their best? Really, he has little doubt she'll do well on the team.
And time to walk down some stairs. A lot of theatrical things were starting to pop up on the walls indicating they were getting pretty close to their destination.]
no subject
Thank you.
[Holly notices the amount of theater things around them, then she sees some of her classmates waiting in a small line up ahead. Stopping she smiles up at him in thanks]
Thank you again for leading me. I'd have gotten even more lost if I'd tried on my own.
no subject
[No thanks necessary, really. This had been an oddly fun way to spend part of a lunch break and it's rare to find kids this pleasant to be around.]
I hope you enjoy the rest of your tour and wish you the best in your track aspirations.
