Video -- Mirror
[Look who's back! It's the angry redhead who spends at least one evening a month arguing over the magical internet by shouting into her dorm mirror.]
You know what's fucked up?
[She usually doesn't escalate to swearing this quickly, though, and anyone who's any good at reading facial features will notice that she's got the intensely fragile look of a rabbit who just realized it was staring at a snake around her eyes.]
Forgetting when you didn't even leave the city. It's not fair. It's really not fair! I did everything right, and I still got hit with whatever it is that makes us go normal again.
Also fucked up: remembering when you're right in the middle of watching a news report about some cops getting shot and knowing it had something to do with this place. Did someone get busted? What happened, anyway? I know someone here knows.
[She sighs, then grits her teeth.]
The most fucked-up part is that while I forgot I made plans for going home Thanksgiving and Christmas and now I need a way to get out of them! I can't leave, what if something happens while I'm gone again!? What if all this national-news bullshit convinces my parents to keep me out of town?
Dammit, this couldn't have happened at a worse time...Dead Week would have been a lot more convenient...
[She reaches up to wipe off her numbers and close the connection, then remembers something.]
Oh, this was an actual request for advice by the way, I have no idea how I'm gonna get out of leaving for the holidays without making my parents think I'm dying and having them come here and mess things up even more.
[Then she closes the connection to go back to watching the news.]

voice; tag cut off, sorry
Being an adult means keeping to your commitments, even if they're inconvenient.
[Kid.]
Besides, I honestly don't think the city will explode for a week just because you're off visiting family. Being an adult means doing what you say you're going to do, even if you don't want to.
Video
[She knows that voice, or rather that constant more-adult-than-thou screeching, but...]
Since when are you on this thing, Elly?

Just because you've been in on it for so long, doesn't make you the be-all end-all expert. I can safely say, even when I wasn't aware, I was sure something else was going on.
["You're not special, Asuka," she wanted to say. But that wasn't proper.]
If anything, not knowing the details left for even more speculation and worry. Even if you yourself weren't being targeted, that doesn't mean that you weren't afraid.

but re: christmas, thanksgiving, just
just go
take the vacation and take a moment to pretend that things are okay for a while
while you still can
Private handwritten;
What if it's not a vacation, though? They might tell me to stay home with all the bullshit that's been making the news lately.
Private text;
you're not 18 yet so you can't just tell them to go screw themselves :\
maybe make up some stuff about a huge project or opportunity at school that you can't possibly miss and that you're really sorry and that while it's obviously optional because a school wouldn't make somebody stay home that like, ho man, it'd advance your career SO AWESOMELY that you can't possibly come home
idk

[Because this is what matters to him, where these things are concerned. He's just going to guess she cares about that kind of thing also]
Accept a job or internship position. For example, I can't leave this city even though my godfather has, because I'm deployed here.

A fourteen-year-old can get an internship. It's different from a regular job.
