Fifteenth Message [Video | Sheet of Paper]
[This is technically a video post. The visual's of nothing - just a space of ceiling. The voice that it catches is obvious enough, though - tense and restrained with some hesitance, self-consciousness, and - what might be something a little more tentatively happy.]
Uh -- ...Hello. -- This is - Anthony Janvier. Erm - please - excuse me...
[That trail-off is into a quick hoarse, thin, nervous breath - and then speech. Not in English - but halting Latin. To anyone who'll know it it boils down to "Can you tell what I am speaking? Am I using it correctly?"
He picks back up in English hastily.]
I-I think - I learned. Latin... -- In case it - may be helpful. For - anything... - E -- 'xcuse me again please.
((OOC: Any responses marked "Audio" will technically be video of nothing, as well!))

audio;
Latin, like you said. But either your syntax is a little off or ... just keep talking, ok? [something about it doesn't quite mesh with the rules of the Classical Latin she knows. Stupid Medieval Latin, grumble, grumble.] I can understand you just fine.
audio;
...A - all right...! -- Uhmm -- ... [Drat what to say -
Picks up - still halting - in Latin again.] I will... Er.
The person in my visions is from the -- eighth - century -- or - perhaps the ninth. -- I'm not sure if I'm -- speaking it - properly...
audio;
It's probably right for the period. I wasn't taught Medieval Latin, so I'm not sure.
Try to relax.

audio;
I can try, at least.

[This is like the most useful echo that she's heard of so far. Gimme.]
text;
I have Echoed two, actually! However, I do not know if my first one has been preserved... I think that my knowledge of it is more complete, but I can't use it. I am not the only one who has learned languages through pulses!
text;
It seems like the pulses try to make up for what else they gave to you.

Welcome to the Numbers as a Second Language club~
[[and back to English because he's not a total ass]]
Next time I run across an old book written in Latin I'm tossing it your way. I think I had like.. two of them at one point when I was trying to look up those symbols of yours that I couldn't read. I'm gonna try and track them down again.

[Going to try to find books in Latin, he means!]

[ He knows far from enough of it to actually translate the words, but he could hear what it was. ]

Possibly, anyway.

How'd it come up?

What a useful skill to have show up!

[ there's a strange sort of focus on it, half-remembering high school and university, half-remembering... something else. the kind of frustration a person gets, trying to remember something like this, something they should know and just can't remember.
and she knows she's been in this position before. ]
Anthony, maybe recite... ah, do you know how to say a Hail Mary?

A "Yes, ma'am" or not wasting any time on proceeding... Not wasting any time on proceeding -
He recites one quickly if mumblingly in the uncertainty of saying it this quickly, with a stutter in one point, but apart from that it comes out cleanly.]
- Was that -- uhm -- [No, he can't talk as if he assumes it was right, she'd just said it didn't sound quite in line with the Latin she learned - ] -- How-how did that sound - ? Should I -- ...say it again - ?
[After all how very often does one hear only one Hail Mary at a time.]

[ she understood it, started mouthing it herself as he spoke it. only one was necessary. ]
No... no, I'm sorry, that's right. I just- I just remembered it myself.
I'm not even Catholic...
audio;
That's Latin, all right. In nomine Patris et Filii et Spiritus Sancti and all that. You echoed it back? That's pretty cool. Any idea why, though? It seems... well, you could echo back obscurer languages, probably.
audio;
[Tone's light and reserved.]
