Third Dream [Video]
[Reimu is once again in her room, sitting on her bed, looking at the network from her ipad. She looks vaguely annoyed.]
You guys sure are noisy all of a sudden aren't you?
[there's a sigh.]
Well, I guess it's a good thing none of that's got anything to do with me. That would be really annoying. Bad enough with all that nonsense at the Halloween party. I don't need to get dragged into rescuing idiots on top of everything else.
[And another pause. She frowns as if she realizes she should probably add something to that so she doesn't sound completely heartless. It's not that she didn't notice people's lives were in danger or anything.]
Though... I guess I hope you got those kids out of there or whatever...
[She frowns more and shakes her head, snorting.]
That's not what I'm here about anyway. Even with all that, I'm already starting to get bored with this place.
Does anyone else on this thing play video games?

[Yeah, she did have that whole yin yang orb thing, but other than that...]

She just sighs and falls back onto the bed.] I guess you have a point there...
[Not that she probably will pay any more attention than she already has been. She's only really acknowledging that Marisa's right about how things are just going to get worse, at least in Reimu's view, the longer she stays here. She's still not going to acknowledge that this actually does in fact involve her though.]

So what games are you into?

Between this and work-related stress, he's got some anxiety built up and unfortunately for Reimu, he's picked her as a target to take it out on.]
Oh, I'm sorry, was all that talk about rescue missions and pulse problems a bother for you? Did the capture of someone by the enemy ruin your day? Are we boring you by talking about our problems in the city and with our echoes? You poor thing, I can't imagine how stressful your life must be having to scroll through all of this talk on the secret network about pulses and tracking down the source of this shit!
But you're right, curing that boredom is important, let's set up a fucking LAN party so you can forget about how annoying this situation is for ten minutes! We're going to make a real difference today, folks!
text
Don't be stupid. Whoever said anything about making a difference? And it's not you people who are boring, it's this dumb city.
[Not that the Numbers club was the kind of not boring she was interested in.]
text
You come on here asking for people to entertain you when most of them are busy either worrying about the next shit to go down with walking snakes or arrests or something, or trying to break out the two of us who got arrested before they disappear too, but I'm the stupid one.
[Okay yes and if he understood the circumstances right they got themselves arrested in a really stupid way, but that some of their number were in enemy hands is kind of a big deal! Losing members of the club was bad enough as it was, especially if they had powers - but imagine if the enemy, was able to wring information out of them?! god he could go on forever about that but he's straying from the point which is to vent all this on someone.]
Maybe if you put the fucking video games down and went outside you'd find something interesting in this dumb city.
text
Seeing as I never even wanted to be in this country, let alone this "club" of yours, I might as well get something out of it. Worrying about things that you can't do anything about is a waste of time anyway.
And who said I haven't already? This place doesn't even have any descent arcades.
[That's not what he meant Reimu.]
text
You think I signed up for this horseshit either? I'm as excited about this whole thing as I am about shoving a stick in my eye, but I'm not about to start moaning about how annoying it is when someone else is getting hit by some shit could very well be thrown my way some day. Or demanding that someone entertain me so I may 'get something out of' my network subscription.
And hey - you already get something out of it! Information on the weird shit about to go on in your life, and who's out to get you! I may not be able to do jack shit, but worrying about a looming threat beats being ignoring it and being unprepared.
text
I never actually said I wasn't paying attention to those things you know. I know the police are after us and there's monsters and aliens and all that. Halloween made that pretty clear if nothing else. It's annoying, but I'm not ignoring that. What would be even more annoying is if people actually expected me to do anything about it besides keep my head down. That'd be way too much work, and it's already enough for me to have to deal with a completely different school system and talking to everyone in English and you noisy people. I think I have a right to at least try to live something resembling a peaceful life while I'm here and I'll deal with whatever happens when it does happen.
Which is why I'm much more interested in finding someone to play videogames with right now, if you're done scolding me?
[With that last display of logic and wonderful priorities, this conversation is over as far as Reimu is concerned. Sorry Doyle.]
text
... Whatever he's not letting himself be told off by a teenager.]
W/e enjoy your videogames, hope us noisy people don't bother you too much.
[Yeah! That'll show her!]
text
[Yeah, that sure did show her Doyle.]
[The girl's follow-up didn't make it sound much if at all less callous.]
Yes, annoying.
[He's going to try to avoid sounding overtly self-righteous as much as he can.]
Don't get me wrong. It's not that I don't realize that. I know it's bad they got caught and all that. I'm just not about to tear my hair out over people I don't know, let alone risk getting arrested for them. It's not like I need to anyway since other people already took care of that.

[so even though it's a terrible thing to say, he's got some sympathy for her, and he's not going to chastise her. he'd rather try to make her feel less lonely and address the problem at its source.]
[He turns on his phone's camera, revealing an empty bus stop as his backdrop. he's got headphones on, but not connected to his phone. He adjusts one side to free up an ear so he can hear replies and gives Reimu a bright smile.]
I do! Mostly jRPGs, but I'll try anything once. What about you?
Those are just the things that irked her enough to make her start complaining though. They're not the actual main issue. Which isn't to say that Russel choosing not to scold her isn't still the best course of action.
She regards him curiously and gives a thoughtful nod.]
jRPGs are fine. Mostly it's the same for me, though I like fighting games and bullet hell shooters most.
What are your favourites?
It's not that hard for me. I've got the highest scores of my friends back home.
[She's not particularly modest about it either.]
My favorites are Seihou Project and ESP Ra.De. mainly.
Whoa, for real? What's your high score?
Hey, do you play any MMOs at all?
