[Reimu is once again in her room, sitting on her bed, looking at the network from her ipad. She looks vaguely annoyed.]

You guys sure are noisy all of a sudden aren't you?

[there's a sigh.]

Well, I guess it's a good thing none of that's got anything to do with me. That would be really annoying. Bad enough with all that nonsense at the Halloween party. I don't need to get dragged into rescuing idiots on top of everything else.

[And another pause. She frowns as if she realizes she should probably add something to that so she doesn't sound completely heartless. It's not that she didn't notice people's lives were in danger or anything.]

Though... I guess I hope you got those kids out of there or whatever...

[She frowns more and shakes her head, snorting.]

That's not what I'm here about anyway. Even with all that, I'm already starting to get bored with this place.

Does anyone else on this thing play video games?

Maybe, but it seems like it'd be too much trouble. It's not like there's anything I could actually do to help even if I wanted to anyway.

Maybe for now, but you know as well as I do that it won't stay that way. At the very least you could try paying attention and learning what the rest of us are able to do.

[Ugh, don't even remind her. At least part of the reason why she's complaining right now is because of that. As if being forced to live in another country for a year hadn't been enough of a disruption of her relatively normal, peaceful life.

So what games are you into?

A lot of things. Mostly bullet hell shooters and fighting games though.

Fighters you can take or leave, but bullet hell you say?

[She seems to perk up a little at this.] Yeah. Right now I've mostly been playing ESP Ra.De. and Seihou Project. Do you know either of those?

Get outta town, those are my faves!

[What are the odds of that? Marisa really does have her attention now.] Really?

[Well, she knows Seihou has an English fanbase, but it's still a surprise.]

I just said so, didn't I? Kioh Gyoku was my favorite of them, but I could never find anyone to play it with.

[That might be a slight smirk] I did have some friends who would play with me back home sometimes, but most of them aren't very good. It'd be nice to have someone new to play against.

theres pre much nothing i wont play.

I'll usually try anything once myself. Though mostly I like bullet hell shooters and the occasional fighting game.

im more of a fp2 guy i gue22 but mmo2 two or actually really anythiing.

Yeah, there's a few of us that play games, though not right now since there's more important stuff going on.

When it's over and things are settled, I usually play things like S&M and Dungeonmania.

[Look, Doyle might not be involved in the rescue mission because 1. he's pretty much useless 2. he doesn't want to get arrested, but he's at least aware of it and has no illusions that it doesn't mean anything good for the network.

Between this and work-related stress, he's got some anxiety built up and unfortunately for Reimu, he's picked her as a target to take it out on.]

You think I signed up for this horseshit either? I'm as excited about this whole thing as I am about shoving a stick in my eye, but I'm not about to start moaning about how annoying it is when someone else is getting hit by some shit could very well be thrown my way some day. Or demanding that someone entertain me so I may 'get something out of' my network subscription.

And hey - you already get something out of it! Information on the weird shit about to go on in your life, and who's out to get you! I may not be able to do jack shit, but worrying about a looming threat beats being ignoring it and being unprepared.

I never actually said I wasn't paying attention to those things you know. I know the police are after us and there's monsters and aliens and all that. Halloween made that pretty clear if nothing else. It's annoying, but I'm not ignoring that. What would be even more annoying is if people actually expected me to do anything about it besides keep my head down. That'd be way too much work, and it's already enough for me to have to deal with a completely different school system and talking to everyone in English and you noisy people. I think I have a right to at least try to live something resembling a peaceful life while I'm here and I'll deal with whatever happens when it does happen.

A lot of different things. The big ones are mainly fighting games and bullet hell shooters.

[Russel's got a gut feeling that what she's irritated about isn't actually the fact that she's been personally inconvenienced by someone else's emergency. To him, this looks like a classic case of someone who feels lonely and left-out and is coping by pretending they don't care.]

[so even though it's a terrible thing to say, he's got some sympathy for her, and he's not going to chastise her. he'd rather try to make her feel less lonely and address the problem at its source.]

[He turns on his phone's camera, revealing an empty bus stop as his backdrop. he's got headphones on, but not connected to his phone. He adjusts one side to free up an ear so he can hear replies and gives Reimu a bright smile.]

I do! Mostly jRPGs, but I'll try anything once. What about you?

[As it would happen, he's not that far off the mark. She does care, even if it's only a little, that people have been captured by the enemy and all that, and understands that this is a bad thing, but she doesn't know them and as she said to Umbral, there's no point in worrying about things you can't do anything about. Also the source of her boredom is mostly that she doesn't really have anyone to play video games with, and while she is generally an introvert, it is nice to have someone to just sit around and talk about random things with every once in a while, so maybe she is a bit lonely.

Those are just the things that irked her enough to make her start complaining though. They're not the actual main issue. Which isn't to say that Russel choosing not to scold her isn't still the best course of action.

jRPGs are fine. Mostly it's the same for me, though I like fighting games and bullet hell shooters most.

Man, bullet hell shooters are really hard! I can never get very far in those, I'm just not good at keeping track of so many things on screen at the same time. If you are, that's pretty impressive!

It's not that hard for me. I've got the highest scores of my friends back home.

My favorites are Seihou Project and ESP Ra.De. mainly.
