[SORT OF OPEN] Rescue log!

Who: The Alan and Octavia Rescue Team
When: Tonight
Where: Locke City Police Station
What: Rescuing idiots. Running distractions. OOCly weeping at how ridiculously big this got.

OKAY SO. This got a hell of a lot bigger than I anticipated when I asked for a few rescue volunteers on Plurk. Twenty people piling into Mac's terrible car isn't just overkill, it's impossible. So this will take a little restructuring!

The main rescue team - (Karson?) Mac, Chris, Shiro, Danny, Walter and Roxy - will be the ones actually getting Alan and Octavia out. Everyone else is free to:

  • Join a distraction team

  • Form a backup offensive team - please be aware that the mods have said that "if it gets loud, the rescuers will encounter a handful of armed police officers. And a handful of unarmed ones." I'm not anticipating there will be much fighting, if any at all.

  • Back out altogether because I hecked up oh god oh man note to self: never organise anything ever again.

  • There were several ideas for distractions discussed in the IC distress call post - fax/printer spamming, joyriding past the police station to try and draw away a few cops, instigating bar fights and such in the city and calling in the police over that, creating light shows with freakish past-life powers, etc. There'll be a thread below for potentially playing these out, or they can be handwaved if people would prefer.

BASICALLY I don't want anyone to feel unwelcome or anything just because I got overwhelmed! I hope everyone is okay with this attempt at de-clusterfucking the situation.

Now hang on while I set up some halfassed subthreads hrughhuhghgr OKAY DONE

    You're a good person.

[now probably isn't the time for character evaluations, but for what it's worth, Brooke already likes Gavin.]

You've probably been doing this a lot longer than I have. Ever pulled something like this off before? Outside of a video game, I mean. [though, hell. the simulation thing worked in Snakes on a Plane.]

You think so? [He just smiles.]

Never on this scale. I used to do mock stuff like this with guys in college for fun, but never for real. It's half the reason I have some of this equipment though, so I'm glad.

Mock tactical jailbreaks? [her eyebrow arches.] If I didn't know better, I'd say you played the most intense DnD sessions I'd ever heard of.

[unless that's exactly what they were. in which case, wow, somebody dorkier than Brooke on the network. this is a rare occasion.]

[He pauses what he's doing a second.]

Well I didn't want to say it was D&D but I guess I'm caught.

[she laughs, sure, but in a familiar way, not at all mean.]

I tried it once or twice in the beginning of college, but once the weed-out classes got everyone, there wasn't a lot of time for it anymore.

Of course, then my life turned into a big game of it, so I guess I don't really need to play it anymore. [a grin crosses her face.] Unless you wanted to organize a celebratory round or two once we pull this off.

Yeah, once I was in graduate school I really didn't have time for it but I forced myself to go at least twice a month to keep myself from eating my text books out of stress. It's always better to relax, right? Otherwise you bang your head off the wall.

We could base a board off it.

That's not a bad idea. I'd have to roll up a brand new character, though. I don't really think you want to see the adventures of Enelar the lady paladin. [she smirks at herself, but it dies quickly.]

That'll have to wait until after we get Alan and Tavia out, though. It would be a lot easier if I could just Holy Sword our way out of this one.

[He nods, turning back to his maps.]

Right. I think we have a good chance, Holy Swords or not though.

    We have the advantage.
