[It is currently ungodly 'o clock and Kanako hasn't slept one bit. She's also got a wicked headache, after outmaneuvering a business enemy she had gone back to the office to wrap things up. Before leaving the office, she fires off a text to who she thinks is her new secretary]

Mary, I need two copies of the O'Neil presentation on my desk by 9. Book a meeting for me with the execs, mark it urgent. Ideally before noon, I know getting their schedules to align is a nightmare but Harrison can skip the Accruals meeting and I know for a fact that Johnson tends to be out golfing in the morning and this is more important. I'll be in around 7.

I hope so. It was really confusing. I couldn't tell where I was, but it felt very important.

It probably was, although who knows when we'll figure out exactly why it's important.

Someone told me that these "echos" trigger when something happens that's similar to what happened to our past selves, so I'm not sure when that might be.

That'd certainly make sense. I can see myself defeating people in battle in a past life.

So what are your thoughts on the people using the network? Do you think they can be trusted?

Probably. I don't see why not. Why do you ask?

And why would you say they are trustworthy?

Well, Marisa's on there and she's... mostly trustworthy. And I've met a few nice people, like Annie and Issac and Miria, and they seem to be looking out for me.

I'm glad to hear that. However, you do need to be wary. There are many unknown factors here.

Magic? Police who cannot be trusted? Sanae, dear, do you not think of these things?

Well, none of them said they were police, so I assumed...

Making assumptions at this juncture seems a bit foolish, wouldn't you say?

I know it is in your nature to trust. It's one of your better traits, and definitely not something that comes from me. That said, in a dangerous situation like this you must be a bit more careful.

What should I do, then? How do I know who to trust and who not to?

Just be careful. If something sounds or feels off, it probably is. Take your time and get to know people before trusting them fully.

From what I can tell, everyone I've talked to has been trustworthy. One of them even seems around my age. [And is a total hotblooded nerd.]

And that's good. Just be careful, take your time. No need to rush into close friendships.

I can't believe I'm about to say this but you'd do well to stick close to Marisa. She's been around this business longer and can probably help keep you safe with whatever it is she intends to set fire to her woods with.
