Who: Hajime (
chalicejoker), Thomas (
wannabered), and Bakura (
shiromadoushi)
Where: The Dead District
When: Late afternoon, October 22
What: Checking out those snake statues.
Warnings: Tokusatsu style violence against snakes, I guess. Bug-monsters getting hit in the face with stone snakes. BUGS AND SNAKES I GUESS.
Hajime couldn't explain it, but he'd wanted to get over to the Dead District to check out these snake monsters ever since he'd first become aware of them. They were something he could fight. And though he had yet to realize he'd picked up a fair amount of his bug monster self's instincts and inclanation towards fighting such things, he certainly felt the effects. He wanted to fight the thing, prove himself stronger, win, and continue to survive. To exist. Not that he really cared enough to dissect the feeling to put it in such words.
At least he'd had the foresight to call up a couple of friends and ask if they wanted to check the snakes out too, right? And nothing could go wrong if they were all together in a group, right? Right?
Hajime looked like he was raring for a fight as they started their search for the snakes, at least. His transformation belt was out and ready, and he kept twitching his hand towards the card box at his waist despite not actually having any cards that would be useful for battle in there.

"So Hajime, I see you're pretty prepared." Thomas gestured down to the heart shaped belt. "Do you really think it'll be necessary though? I mean, I've got my gun and Bakura could probably suck the thing's soul out." Yeah, Thomas was still REALLY unnerved by Bakura in all honesty. "No offense Bakura."
no subject
He glanced back at Thomas. "These things are supposed to be nasty. We want all the firepower we can get, and I can hit pretty hard. I'm changing as soon as we spot one." He smirked. "And I don't think Bakura works that way, even if the snake did have a soul."
no subject
"And are you sure it's such a good idea to transform in front of those things? We don't know if they're bugged."
....
"With trackers, I mean."
no subject
With a sigh, he pulls the gun from his pocket and looks around. "What IS the deal with your two and your cards anyway? Honestly, between the unanswered questions about you two, the fact there are at least 2 killer AI on the network, and Thundercorp I feel like we're all just running around in the dark and hoping we don't get hurt."
no subject
And to answer Thomas, he shrugged, which looked kind of weird coming from a hulking bug monster. "We don't know, but we've both been remembering monsters getting sealed into cards. I have no idea why they're looking so different."
the pun was accidental, and then I had to leave it.. :D

Yeah, Thomas, he's just going to go stand a little too close next to you now.

Guess who accidentally closed the log tab and forgot
Thomas refused to believe he was wrong. "They're a serious threat."
It's cool, sleep had to be a thing at that point anyway
A noise from somewhere nearby caught Hajime's attention, causing him to whip around in that direction...and it's entirely possible he dragged Thomas along for the ride. Whatever it was had sounded like stone scraping on stone. "Did you guys hear that?"
no subject
Almost without thinking his hand went to his chest. Diabound wasn't solid... he couldn't do anything against the statues... but still...
no subject
It looks like any hopes he had of this being uneventful died off. "It's like the caves all over again. Rocks, weird sounds, and a large bug by my side."
no subject
The snake creature came into view, though it was doing it at a rate that suggested it could easily be outrun. Hajime probably should have been at least a little nervous. But no, far from it.
He was excited. He let out an involuntary growl at the snake, as though he were daring it to come closer.
no subject
"...Hajime, I don't think..."
He put a restraining hand on his friend's shoulder, knowing even as he did it that it wasn't going to work.
no subject
Thomas took a couple steps back, gun trained on the statue. "Maybe we should go."
no subject
Yes. This is what he'd wanted. This is what his instincts had been craving. He let loose a snarling, inhuman battle cry and charged at the snake.
no subject
"HAJIME!" Bakura shouted, going to run after only to stop short when his own self preservation instinct kicked in. "You fucking moron WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"
no subject
Thomas ran over to Bakura. "Ideas?"
no subject
With a satisfied growl, he lashed out at the moving statue, hitting it as hard as he could. It seemed to have done some good; the statue was now sporting a brand-new crack. There was a victorious howl at that point, and he was so wrapped up in the fight that he completely failed to miss the now-familiar hollow feeling that suggested a new Echo.
Of course, the snake didn't really appreciate being hit, and it raised its head to strike back at the big bug.
no subject
Bakura's heart was beating so fast he almost missed the hollow feeling washing over him. Diabound... Please please please let it finally be his physical presence or ANYTHING that would help...!
One hand shot out to push Thomas back, the other going over his chest. "DIABOUND!" he yelled, entire body tensing. "COME FORTH!"
There was a dramatic gust of wind around him as a thirty foot tall half man, half snake monster erupted from behind the white haired teen, hovering a foot off the ground.
no subject
Thomas tried not to drop his gun as he stared at the monster. "That's ... that's a pretty good idea."
no subject
The snake, however, was going to strike at the distracted bug again if Hajime wasn't careful.
Sorry Thomas!
And now Hajime was distracted. Fuck!
"Damnit, Hajime!" Bakura yelled. "MOVE!"
Fuck it! Without even half of a plan in his head, the white haired teen dashed forward, Diabound rushing out ahead of him. C'mon, c'mon, anything!
You should be. Look what you made him do.
With the bout of speed he dove at Hajime, managing to knock the bug out of the way of the snake's strike. "Hajime! You ok?! We need to get out of here!"
Whoops, Hajime's turn to be sorry.
And he was angry that a pitiful little human had gotten in the way of his fight. Good job, Thomas, the giant bug is going to thank you for saving him by taking a swing at you with one of his arm blades. The crazed snarl that accompanies this is surely reassuring.
Welcome to the shonen/toku idiot's club
What happened after was too fast of a blur. First the alarm of suddenly there being something in front of him, followed by the pure panic of realizing he was about to barrel head first into the snake that was coming right at him and the desperate reaching out to Diabound to do something...! Then an almost dizzying feeling of something changing as his kaa wrapped around him...
...and then he was on the opposite side of the snake.
Stone.
The snake was made out of stone.
So that's what...
The hysterical laugh that boarded a full out cackle was cut off short, however, at Hajime's growl. He turned, eyes widening as he saw the giant bug going to take a swing at the wrong target before realization tumbled unpleasantly into place.
First the statue, now Thomas... Shit!
Now it was Bakura's turn to try and tackle the rampaging bugman. With a burst a speed that was pure adrenaline, Diabound following behind him, he took a leap at his friend, aiming for a full on body tackle.
"HAJIMEEE!"
Look at him. Look at the god behind him. Focus on him. Aim for the Kaa who couldn't be hit who's far more impressive than anything else around.
Do we get team jackets?
This was such a terrible idea. His hand went to the cut, checking to see if he'd just been eviscerated when he heard Bakura's yell and leap. "God dammit!" They needed to get Hajime away from the snake and back to his sense fast.
Only if they're not Hawaiian print or covered in anime characters.
Yes, that was definitely the biggest thing in the area. Worth fighting. Thomas now had a chance to get away from the crazed giant bug, as the crazed giant bug was making a mad charge at Bakura and Diabound now. He seemed to think he was going to meet Bakura's flying tackle with his blades.
They can get colour coded trench coats! :D
With a sharp twist of his body, he jerked to the side, glancing off Hajime and tumbling onto the ground, rolling once before scrambling to his feet, breath coming quickly.
Diabound continued moving forward, seemingly to take Hajime's attack, only the lack of solidity of the spirit monster meant that Hajime's efforts would pass through it like air.
I call red!
Just to be safe, Thomas leveled his blaster as Hajime and looked around. "We still gotta look out for that fucking snake too."
Green or black over here!
Sure sure, take two of Bakura's 3 colours. He'll get blue, then :D
He broke off, eyes widening a touch at the splatter of green. "...shit. When did that--"
no subject
Thomas looked around before backing up a bit. "Ok, he's hurt. So how about you use Diabound to lure him back toward my car. If he's hurt we need to be able to get him somewhere and fast when he turns back." Hajime turning back into a human once he exhausted himself made perfect sense to Thomas.
no subject
Good news! The bugmonster had stopped rampaging. Bad news! He showed no signs of transforming back, and he was still bleeding a little.
no subject
Bakura ran over to where Hajime had fallen, kneeling down next to him, hand on his friend's shoulder. "Hajime! Hajime, are you--"
He swore again before turning back to Thomas. "Bring your car over here, I'll get him back to normal!" he instructed, shifting to work on turning Hajime over onto his back.
If he could get the card from the holder and run it through his belt, Hajime would turn back... Wouldn't matter that it wasn't Hajime himself that did it, right? Bakura was a monster-card person too, he should be able to use that card, he was sure of it!
no subject
He returns a few minutes later, car going quite a bit faster than is safe before turning the cat, parking it, and opening up the back. Thank god Priuses are silent. "Get him in there! The backseat's too small if he's still a bug."
no subject
He paused, scowling a bit at the stained tissue in his hand. "...Got a plastic bag in that thing?"
Not that it mattered, some of it was on the ground anyway...
no subject
But hey, at least he'd be cooperative when it came time to haul him into the Prius. None of that complaining about being seen in the car they might have had to deal with otherwise.
no subject
"Well, since he's back to human, lets drop him in the backseat. More comfortable for him that way." Thomas got to his feet before moving to Hajime's feet. "See that snake anywhere or are we safe for now?"
no subject
"Haven't seen any sign of it.. with luck, Hajime hurt it enough that it won't be back..."
He paused, blinking. "What are yo-- Here, just help me get him on my back," he sighed, shifting to grab hold of Hajime's arms to put them over his shoulders to haul the former bugman up. "Not like he weighs much like this..."
