I'm back. Sorry for disappearing for so long, there was a tad bit of trouble back home. And obviously something happened *here*. Would anyone care to fill me in?

Please reply via text if you can. Whatever that something was, it did something to my hearing and my voice when I tried to track it down. I have a dreadful headache now.

[And sounds like he's British, but he's trying not to let on about that, even if a little of the older accent is slipping into his text, too. He's hoping he can make it go away if he tries hard enough.]

I thought you were only going to be gone for a week.

I've been sort of out of the loop as well. Work got pretty busy. There was another one of those pink flashes on the 21st and something's weird with the Towers. That's all I know.

What happened to your hearing? Are you all right aside from the headache?

Hello, Mr. Lyall... I hope that everything is now (mostly) all right, sir.

I think that it seems that whatever is causing us to hear that sound (if you're hearing what I think you may be...) is underground close to Tuning Towers. People have said that it is loudest inside the building. However, I think that is still all we know...

I will also smell much worse now... I apologize.

Your hearing? Let me guess, you can suddenly hear a lot better than you could before, and everything sounds a lot louder than it should?

I'm sorry, Bakura. I thought I'd said two weeks, but it did turn into three, and for that I apologize. Things were a bit messy at home, with all the water everywhere. They wound up having to move entirely, so we had to find them a new house.

It was just a bit exhausting.

[And that comes across a bit like he's whining. At a teenage boy. Wow, he wishes he could take that back now that he's reading over it, but it's a bit late now.]

I'm fine. Everything is just so very *loud* now, and I'm having trouble sorting it all out. It's very like when my sense of smell increased, except now with my ears.

I went there, actually. Stupid of me, but there it is. And I think "they" are right. I have to wonder if it's connected with whatever the other side, whoever they are, is looking for "underground".

Painfully so, yes. Rather like when my sense of smell suddenly turned into what it is now, only with my hearing.

I assume it's another of those werewolf things, but it's damned inconvenient. I have classes to teach on Monday. In a high school, not exactly known for being quiet.

You'd better be sorry. You picked the shittiest weeks to be gone and the sub they got for you is worse than the rest of the teachers in that building!

Sounds familiar. Not personally, but I've had two friends go through the same thing.

Oh, man, ouch. I'd recommend ear plugs - they have skin colored ones that you can't really notice unless you're looking for them, and it worked for one of my friends, put his hearing back down to a normal level until he could adjust.

My ears themselves are all right :) It's my sense of hearing that's gone barmy.

I'm sorry, Bakura :( I'll try not to let it happen again. With any luck at all, my parents' house won't flood again.

That's a good idea, thank you. I may try that. Though I don't know just how "normal" this hearing is as opposed to "magical". I'll have to try and find out.

Now we just have to find out how to find it. I don't imagine anyone will want us digging under Tuning Towers.

The lights and the Towers covers a lot of it. We've also apparently learned the names or classifications or whatever of the weird creatures we've been seeing. And that there's probably another kind of them out there by now.

Oh, very sure. I change on the full moon and everything.

It's good to know earplugs have been successful before. A friend suggested them to me, already, so I will have to try them. Do you mind if I ask who exactly had this same problem that I am having? I know one other person who had the smell issue, like I did, and who may also be a werewolf.

It'd better not. Where they hell do they live anyway, that it flooded like that.

I guess some of us set up a patrol and found an old warehouse or something, with cages and brains hooked up to things. [He's pretty put off about the whole brains thing, but at least this is text.] And there were vats labelled "Vermini", "Vermedi", and "Vermaxi". Stupid naming scheme, but it is what it is.

Earplugs help moderately well.

In regards to happenings, particularly noteworthy had been the discovery of human brains and odd machinery in an abandoned jail, all of which has by now been removed.

Something odd going on at Tuning Towers. There's a buzzing noise. It's like the one down in the mines.

[He's unsure what more to say on the first - in float the thoughts that they could hear it from the mine, if it was from the same source, and so who knows how far down or close it could be, or whether there's much risk of the spoken-of enemy finding it first if it's a thing only they can hear; he doesn't know what could be said to them and so gives up the ghost on it, at least for now...]

No, sir. I have not felt it... [His current state isn't comfortable, but decomposition is minimally a factor in that.] However, I will understand if it is best for me to stay away from the classroom on Monday from now on... It may also be easiest.
