(no subject)

Who: Pierce Asher [personal profile] purity and Miles Asher [personal profile] skycutter
Where: Miles' house!
When: 9/28
What: Time for bro-visits, of course.

[He's humming cheerfully as he parks his car in front of the familiar house, muting out the faint buzzing in his head. Whatever works, he figures, relieved that the odd nagging bit of noise is gone at least for the moment.

When he approaches the door, he pauses, debating with himself. Pierce reaches toward the doorknob, pauses, and retracts his hand again. Though he knows it bothers Miles when he rings the doorbell like any guest would, he nevertheless feels like it's what he's supposed to do. Ever since the divorce, he's felt that way.

No matter what anyone says to him, the sense that there's some invisible partition between him and the people in this house looms over him. Pierce feels like a guest in his own home, so why not this one too? His house might be opulent, but it's cold and barren, and he's just about always alone.

So he can never deny the sense that he doesn't belong there, an object out of place. If he doesn't belong in the place that's supposed to be his home, how can this house be different? The stranger the world gets, the more Pierce is compelled to ponder these things. Maybe he's endangering them by coming here.

He hates it. He doesn't understand it.

Once again, he sets his jaw and reaches for the door.

Once again, he halts before he actually touches it]

[The idiot dog is barking again, and it's pretty damn annoying, especially when all Miles wants to do is sleep the day away.

It's rare that he'd want to, to be honest, but really, really after the events of the last few weeks, he thinks he deserves it. So he grumpily trudges downstairs and drags Gingerbread back by the collar with his good, yet non-dominant hand.]

Stop it, you dumb dog. There's nothing there so just go back to your bed and be quiet.
skycutter: (It's driven me before and seems to)

... Huh?

[That's not right. That's most definitely Pierce's voice, but he's not ringing the doorbell or anything, which is weird enough for Miles.]

Uh, hi?

What're you doing out there?
skycutter: (Take the wheel and steer)

[Miles sighs heavily, the sound of someone who's been dealing with his brother's oddities for a while.]

You're just waiting to ring the doorbell aren't you? Just come in already.
skycutter: (But lately I'm beginning to find that I)

A key, Pierce. You still have a key, remember?

[Always with this conversation, sheesh. And he cant even go and unlock the door for his brother, because he has to hang onto the dog.]
skycutter: (So if I decide to waiver my chance)

Mom did get me a dog, yeah. A dumb one at that.

[He lets out a heavy, ever-suffering sigh.]

Pierce, are you going to open the door sometime? Because I cant open it for you since I have to hold onto the dog, otherwise he might run outside and hit a car or something. [And mom would kill him if he let the dog die.]
skycutter: (How much I'll let the fear)

Are you serious...

[Miles is just giving up on that, and putting the dog in the kitchen, making sure to close that dog gate he bothered their mother to install so the dog wont run out again.

So he's the one who opens the door, fumbling a little because he's got only the one hand to work with.]

You know what? Just come on in.
