Hey. I’ve been reading up on this place for a day or so now, I would think it was some elaborate university project if it wasn’t so detailed.

We had to make a programme for my coding class in uni but I never finished it. No wonder I barely got through it with a credit. Anyway, it’s pretty interesting.

Definitely something to spend my time on when work’s slow. The whole thing about past lives isn’t something I ever took into consideration and even then, these “Echoes” and “Pulses” people are talking about are strange.

All I did was find a ring, where’s the logical reasoning in that? It’s a common enough object to find in any time period, how do I know it wasn’t meant for someone else?

[There’s a pause in his typing as he take a call, but he comes back right afterward.]

Anything is better than sitting around in a cubicle though. I’m all for life changing phenomenon.

"Life changing phenomenon" is definitely one way to put it. Though the reality it's a lot less glamorous than it sounds, unfortunately. [ Ryan would laugh here, but it's starting to weigh on him a little... ]

I'm guessing you read the FAQ? Is there anything special about your wring? Any markings on it or something?

It'd be the most technical way to describe it! Has anyone taken the time to study the Echoes? I didn't see anything like that in the FAQ but I'm sure someone's thought of it. Right?

It's pretty nondescript.

[He links a picture of it after a moment, still on his finger. It's shiny black, like obsidian, with a wide band and the head a flat hexagonal shape.]

It's some kind of metal, but it looks like polished stone.

Dunno, actually, but I'm sure someone must've thought of something. Ask around? [ How do you deal with someone who isn't freaking out, Ryan? ]

And it doesn't seem familiar at all?

I'll try, but if not I'd like to do something like that myself. At least, data collection would be useful.

It does, I don't really get it. I've never seen it before and yet it seems like the most natural thing to put it on.

There's a few professors and scientists on the network, I think. Maybe try seeking them out, they might know more.

Well, that's an echo, alright. Or 'pulse,' some people like calling 'em that more. Unfortunately, I can't really say when things'll start making sense... it's different for everybody.

Oh, I will. Even if I can't get answers from them, compiling data will be useful for all of us if I can find any patterns.

A pulse? That does make sense, especially considering time theories people have come up with over the years. I know a lot of people here have remembered things from past lives, but if it's just pulsing or resonating something in this life that matches their previous one it would make the Echoes come more naturally. And if you were able to figure out what caused a lot of your Echoes you could force more of them.

Somehow, it's even more complicated than "past" lives. You might find out why that ring is important to you later on though.

I hope I can, it's so weird. I've never seen metal like it before. At least, I think it's metal.

It sounds crazy, I know, but sometimes we can get things back without remembering what they're for, or why we have them. Or had them, I guess.

Can I ask what it looks like? No markings or anything?

[He links the same picture he gave Ryan, the ring and band completely black, its band wide and the head flat against his finger in the shape of a hexagon. It sits against his skin comfortably and the head covers from his second to third knuckle.]

It's a lot lighter than it looks too, so it isn't onyx.

Lighter...then it probably can't be steel either. The kind with iron oxides on the outside, you know?

At least it's not something that looks like it came out of Captain Planet.

Anyway, I figured since no one shares my apartment with me yet, I haven't found a roommate.

The computer programme? I set something up about data collection because I figured it'd be useful for my major and minor classes, but I never finished it.

I had other things to do, when you're writing a thesis on neural modulation your extra programming class takes second seat in priorities.

I got hairclips my first time. Trust me, a ring is not the dumbest thing anyone's started with.

My ring is made of a strange sort of metal, maybe it's the same.

Nope. Plastic. Pretty durable plastic, but not exactly high fashion.

Nothing I've found so far really fits together, even with the people I remember.

That makes a lot of sense, but that's why I want to research it. Even if we're only staring at the molecules of the problem, we can still put them together and try and make sense out of them.

research is an excellent idea!
there are plenty of people doing that
and many will be willing to help i think

From what I've read on the Network so far, it seems like some people have Echoes that connect. I'm going to data graph what I can and look for patterns.

the problem is not everyone is comfortable sharing echo info i guess :o
