Tenth Message [Video | Sheet of Paper]

[A visual transmission lights on at the sound of a "Hello".

And there's Anthony - looking no different than the present usual, for Anthony, and relatively at-ease, if distracted - the docile little greeting smile he flicks on is absentminded, and his eyes don't stay on the page - flickering on and off something above or rather just past it.

He bows a nod.] Excuse me - it's -- Anthony.

I was -- waiting - a while -- to do this. I know; I apologize -- but I'd -- like to show - everyone something I obtained in the mine -- ...In case - someone "recognizes" it - ... Hang on.

[Perspective slowly turns to this - a small yellow-flashing thing, lain flat on a counter's edge.]

-- This is it -- ...It's a - occult sigil, I think -- of some type - ...used in a ritual or spell. -- I've -- had pulses to do with magic before -- it would be used by placing it in a - triangular - arrangement with two other symbols. -- I learned the name and the appearance of another one -- it's - called "Ulyaoth" -- but I don't know what this one's called -- ...or if it - "stands for" anything -- specific.

-- I understand it's - unlikely - anyone will know where it's from -- ...or how it's intended to work - but in case it's -- ...not -- unknown -- to pinpoint it, my - pulses are all drawn from Europe under Charlemagne.

Thank you for anything you have to say -- and if it's recognizable - I'll -- ...understand and - get rid of it -- if I must -- or try to. [Minimal confidence that would be possible, and as given his visions he isn't wholly at ease about the thing, he's too intrigued to want to let go of the thing.]

I agree that it isn't pleasant. [Nebulously wonders whether or not he would were it not for where else that color's appeared in connection to magic.]

I have seen the sigil in yellow and in blue (in visions). I have nothing to tell me what the significance may be of the difference.

Name isn't familiar but it sounds like something out of Lovecraft in the form of the name. -aoth is a typical ending of deity type names, I think. Especially in games. Like like how -kael is angle type names.

I'd be careful with it until you know what it calls on.

[Bit of a low, crawling chill as that notion solidifies - from what little familiarity he has with Lovecraft that would seem darkly appropriate in line with a few troubling choice sights in his visions.]

Do you think that it calls on a God? (I thought that you may have an idea on exactly where it may be from.)

Dunno. Might. Most magical things call upon some sort of power, mostly external. Gods, demons, fae, elements, whatever. Really there's not too much difference past the alignment of the thing you're trying to implore to help you. Even the norse runes were like that, unless they were used for just alphabet stuff. Anytime you're invoking a symbol to achieve an effect, you're calling on something.

This one kinda looks like a weird combo of about 4 of those runes, actually.

[Fair enough - though he doesn't quite have the savvy to articulate asking what he thinks the likelihood is of the symbol calling on an elder god, eldritch abomination - any term preferred.]

Which ones are they, if you can recall the specific ones? [Unlikely as it is, again, that knowledge on this will plain-and-simply turn up it ought to be helpful to know if it may derive from anything...]

[Going to make note of this - and to use it as a starting point for more general looking-up on the subject of runes and the like...] I should probably start researching more about the occult and supernatural.

I've never seen anything like it, I'm afraid. But...with all that's happening, I agree. Be careful.

I have seen suggestions of what it may be able to do in "pulses"... I promise you that I will.

I am not sure... I have only seen it being used specifically in one vision, and I did not see its effect. However, I think that it is connected to a type of magic affecting the way that I am now. Until I know how it can be used safely (if it can), I won't use it at all.

With all due respect, considering how you look, I think that would be an extremely wise decision.

is the color important or was there nothing else to use for it?

There has to be an importance to the color. I have seen two different spells cast with the system that it belongs to. One was accompanied by blue light, and the other is accompanied by yellow light. This sigil is the same yellow that the second spell is. The "Ulyaoth" sigil (according to knowledge from pulses) is blue.

However, both were involved in the first spell. I do not know any that are connected to the second one.

Unfortunately, I do not know if it is able to do anything on its own, and I don't know what its individual purpose could be in a "complete" spell. I'm afraid I didn't even get to see what happened after the blue spell was cast.

Yes. That's all I remember about this symbol only.

I also remember that it is meant to be written onto a round medal carved with this.

[Draws a circle below that, and an equilateral triangle inside with a smaller circle at each of its points.]

One symbol goes in each of the spaces at the points in order for a spell to be cast. In my vision of the blue spell, I think that I heard a voice saying three words, and that those words were the names of the symbols (one sounded like "Ulyaoth"). I cannot tell which one was the name for this one.

What makes you think you might need to get rid of it?

Bakura is right... I have no idea what it is supposed to draw from. Also, I am sure that the system that uses it is related to my "condition." I will try to keep it, but if someone else knows better and they think that it's best not to have anything to do with it, I will trust them.

Maybe its some kind of symbol you use to help yourself. Like it doesn't have to be bad, does it?

Perhaps not... [True enough that the one vision he did see it distinctly in included it in a spell he'd been standing put and quietly watching as it was cast.] I will still wait until I am sure that it isn't before I handle it much more, if I can... I had a vision of it being used. However, it wasn't long enough to show me what it was for.

[With a specific hope that another pulse or so will narrow the gap for a leap of faith before anything might possibly compel him to trial and error - he'd certainly trust that enough to tell him it's safe, if not necessarily not-sinister in all other respects.]

Yeah its a good idea to be careful.

Seems pretty cool though. Like if there's a whole system of magic based on symbols. Like runes or something. And if it really works that would be awesome.
