...Okay then. Looks like I'm going to have to figure out how to balance this thing with work a little better. If anyone was worried, I'm sorry - I haven't really had time to chime in lately, between gearing up for the new school year and the first week of classes. I'm fine.

Did I miss anything important, other than people going back into the mines? I'm still reading through the backlog.

[It's a couple minutes before Becky responds in kind; she has to get her webcam going. As useful as it is to know she can pull up video anywhere, it's still a little disconcerting if there's not a camera involved.]

The mine was a bit... stressful.

I don't doubt that. It didn't look like it was much fun the first time. [She doesn't press further, though; no doubt the whole log's around somewhere to read or watch, and she's already seen that it didn't turn up anything new.]

That's good. School's been business as usual - I think my students are too young to get pulled into this. I hope so, anyway.

No, I didn't. I've just been doing my best headless chicken impersonation for the last few weeks. You'd think it would get easier after the first year, but no.

Me, I'm fine... ish. I ran support on the mine thing -- total bust anyway. I ask about the memories because my brother just up and forgot the numbers club for a whole week

he's back to normal now but it really hits home that... at any time this could just all go away

Whatever's going on, I stopped expecting easy months ago. Besides, I'd rather my students didn't end up stuck in the middle of this. If I can help keep that from happening, I will.

They're third-graders. I certainly hope none of them end up mixed up in this. Haven't seen any so far, thank goodness.
