Are there any places hiring about town that any of you here on the network would recommend? I'm not very picky as to what the job is, though I will confess I haven't much work experience yet.

[A pause, then:]

Beyond playing the violin at various recitals and events. I have no experience in anything not related to music however.

[The message cuts off there, only to be picked up a few hours later.]

If I may... there are those of you with musical experience, yes? I still have a private teacher at present but I would be most grateful for the opportunity to practice alongside others. Duets would be lovely as I've had little chance of practicing those.

Oh, you BET it was exciting! That job was OUTRAGEOUS! I dunno about classically trained, but I took some classes when I was in high school and college--enough to get by and ace those auditions!

We all start somewhere! If you have to go into retail or waitstaffing there's no shame in that. I could ask around and give you a list of places looking that aren't too bad! I've got a voice that could be good in that area, but no real experience.

Oh there's no shame in it, certainly. Honestly, I think it might aid me some. I've lived a sheltered life, you could say.

Okay, I'll get back to you in a day or so. I've got a lot of friends working those sort of sectors. No, sorry! In college I was more English and Drama.

English and drama sounds interesting though. Are you more of the english literature sort or the theater sort? Based on the drama aspect, I mean.

It's nothing too exciting. I run my own garage and, well, we could always use a few more hands, either with the mechanics or more administrative stuff. You don't need any previous experience, or anything, just basic ability of obeying instructions should do it.

That's wonderful. I have a little experience in that vein but my primary focus has always been the violin.

Are there any pieces you're more familiar with than others? Have you done duets before?

I've...been playing a long time, that first question's gonna take us a while and I don't know off the top of my head.

Even if I don't know a piece, I can sightread well. Anyway. I don't usually do duets, but I like them.

Are you looking for someone with a specific kind of musical experience? I play classical piano and I'd love someone to practice with, if you're interested in that instrument.

Not particularly specific, no. I simply haven't had the chance to do much with duets. In time I would like to practice more at the piano as well. I'm afraid I've been far too focused on the violin though.

I do admit a fondness for violin and piano together though, from what I've heard and the few duets I've practiced in school so far.

I've never practiced a duet with piano and violin, but that sounds lovely! Would you like to practice sometime?
