This is Anthony J. ...

How should those of us who are undergoing extreme changes approach discussing them with new network members?

[He'll not tie it up with a closing thank-you line in case a question framed even slightly more casually (less "properly" at any rate) looks as if it's also being framed with less of a sense of importance. There are a few different causes for asking this, some of which have him feeling retroactively like an idiot for not getting this out of the way sooner.]

I think that we should be honest with them and let them make up their minds if it's fake or not. Though with those that are younger, mebbe we should just take it easy with them?

I, ermm -- ...I have been trying... They don't -- ...seem to like it. [A silly way to say it.] -- I don't know what's saying more than - is actually appropriate.

Considering that a lot of people don't like the idea of anyone's body changing, I can imagine. I don't know what to tell you though. People will react the way they want to until the reality hits them.

I think it's just different things for different people. Us, so that we can prepare ourselves for the reactions of others that might not be willing to accept the changes going on. Them, so they realize that this is not a joke.

You tell them outright, duh! OWN the changes and their extremeness. You get into all the gory details about that stuff. And then if the newbies have a problem with it you get to slam them for being racist sacks of shit!!!!!!!!

However, telling a person at the beginning that some of us are becoming monsters (zombies, werewolves, vampires) could still be too much... Couldn't it?

People need to know this shit! I mean I figure there 8n't no point hiding it when we have people getting abductimurdered by the police and stuff. That's way scarier than becoming an ANYTHING, dude.
May as well tell people up front! Then they can get the freaking out all finished and done with and they can move on to the part where they learn to kick ass. It benefits everybody! Yeah!!!!!!!!

But then add that they are in no danger because their brain is OBVIOUSLY already gone!
Then you can direct them to the clinic to get that ICE BURN OUT OF NOWHERE checked out. While high-fiving yourself in the smuggest possible manner. Fuck yeah!

If they're being particularly hardheaded with their skepticism, we're at least in a unique position to give them a reality check.

[Hajime's people skills are not his strongest suit.]

I guess that we are, although I don't know if it will work as well for me as it does for you. [Meant with some humor that in writing he knows is not especially likely to come through - maybe part of his admiring of that one instance of doing so by Hajime that he caught will, meanwhile. He's going to keep quiet about it in case it's awkward.]

What should we do if they are not skeptical? Do you think it is better for us to keep being "monsters" to ourselves, unless we can't?

I'm not sure. In my case, I want people to know that I can help them if they need it. I'm strong enough to take down the other side's monsters.

[Of that Anthony has no doubt - between what he's seen, what Hajime's described with him of what he's seen in his visions of his other form, that he'd been trusted to serve as one of Mr. Lyall's so-to-speak bodyguards...]

I don't know what it is that I want... I do want people to think the same about me. However, I don't expect them to.

I still don't want to have to stay out of the way, though... [He doesn't want to have to hide from anyone else anymore, either, but that's all for himself, and so he'll keep it to himself, accordingly, as much as he can.]

Being a "zombie" gives me advantages that I think I am aware of. Either people think it would be too much of a risk to try to use them, or it's something else.

[Hajime would understand not wanting to hide. He'd gone stir crazy hiding out for so long. And he can understand thinking Anthony might be taking risks. When he changes, he looks like he can take damage. A "zombie" seems more frail.]

What sort of advantages are we talking about here?

Aside from getting un-natural abilities, there are people here that go through physical changes?

Yes... some of us are mutating. It can be in minor ways (relatively). There are people whose hair has changed color, for example. However, although it has not been common, it can be much more obviously unnatural than that.

That doesn't sound too bad. It's not unusual for people to change their hair color.

Do you mean that someone has grown something that shouldn't be there in the first place?

That is not all, but yes, they have! Some have lost teeth and grown less human-likr ones where they should be. One of my best friends grew a tail. I know that there are others...

That sounds rather painful. Still, it shouldn't be physically possible for that to happen.
