Who: Alex Kusnitz and Anthony Janvier
When: August 11
Where: John Mitchell's apartment.
What: Someone (or someones) might as well hang back and keep an eye on things while the reservoir investigation is underway - or indulge in a bit of peaceful hanging about. Relatively peaceful, that is, what with the water situation being taken care of as we speak.
It hadn't been long since he had relocated, and there was something of import afoot. Anthony still hadn't settled into a thought of himself as anything more than a passing houseguest let alone a roommate as referred for a mild haze of reasons and a now general uncertainty. Although Alex's coming over had been reassuring, with John not present, it was likewise less a feeling of having the house to himself and company as trusted - which, for its part, was not one he had had in a long time - and more of a duty, and in either frame of mind he would likely do the same things, in his part of any "hanging out".
Hanging out was hanging out. The visit was a relief - in a settling-down state of things, all the more particularly with as easily laid-back company as Alex's. He was going to do anything but snub it - but it might take some time to settle down even into that with part of a mind to remember to keep watch, don't let anything happen, catch anything going out of place.
Funny enough, it was with that much mind on the dubiously important that on Alex's arrival he was able to less-awkwardly follow up more mundane greetings with "Has -- ...Has anything changed?"
By this point it seemed a very appropriate question - for people like them hand-in-hand with "How have you been?"

He didn't look any different (any worse). The question was familiar by now--Alex was getting used to the way everyone asked it almost as routinely as 'how are you?' It was comforting, in a weird way, to know they were all keeping an eye on each other.
"Not really, lee. Just, like, a few re-runs of old pull, pulses or whatever we're calling-ing them. You?"

Relatively few, and one instance of his sword finding its way into his hand, and one of finding himself hearing his own thoughts, spoken out loud and, with another thought, not in English - all between waves of wheezy laughter and all at times he was able to excuse himself to someplace for it to pass alone. A while after word of the cause had caught on it had dawned on him that he was the lucky one in this case as he needed less water than he had before.
The water matter - what was underway to getting it dealt with, rather - was a contributor to the next question, if not the sole one - along with his own sticking out-of-place sense. "You -- don't mind coming here, do you?"

The rerun that had bothered Alex the most was the memory of his brother, which had, again, left him feeling as if he'd lost someone, but with no context for the loss. He couldn't resist trying to reconstruct some of what other-Alex's relationship with him had been like from the few clues the memory gave him, but he hadn't had any more luck the second time around. (He was sure by now other-Alex didn't share his name, but either hadn't heard or hadn't caught what his name was.)
"Is there anything-ing you want to do?"
Something that had nothing to do with memories or tainted water would be good, he thought.

Another onset rising, was it?
"If - Ihihif there's anything you'd like to do then -- !" Pressed his hand into his mouth, stifled another laugh into a couple of dragging breaths - and the awkward humor he worked up into his starting again was involuntarily bolstered. "I'm -- sorryhehheh -- my laugh sounds terrible -- " Last word forced to a break as he forced another rise flat. "I'm er -- still not used to - heh - just doing things - here... by myself."
Yes, definitely one on the rise - and of all the situations...!

"We could play a game, ga-muh?"
But it was distressing to see Anthony fight against the laughing fit without trying to do something about it.
"Do you think the laughing-ing could be, like, scared out of you? Like the hicc, hiccups?"

"I heh -- ...hrmm -- !" Swallowed it down, took two more sharp breaths - that didn't hitch. " -- don't know. Does that -- " Rats, there was that rippling again -- "Does that worhahahuhrhrrrk -- ...?"

His mind had followed a similar path, one that went, more or less, Hey, it worked for one weird pulse-related thing.
"But I can't surprise, pry-zuh, you with it now that I've told you." Oops.
