hey, it's the guy who was offering martial arts training, mamoru
nine pm on wednesdays work for everyone? it's gonna be at st. johns episcopal church -- not the best place I know but there's a decent sized room and some mats and you don't have to pay to get in.
if you wanna learn to fight, or if you wanna help teach, just show up. I'm not going to be taking roll. oh, and wear something comfortable that you can move in.
[[ACTION, forward-dated to Wednesday night]]
[It's not ideal, Mamoru thinks, but it'll do. It's more like a large conference room than anything else, something that the church rents out to groups like this, but the youth groups in the church used it too, sometimes. He has mats down on the floor -- though if you're early you're welcome to help him set up -- and takes a few minutes to stretch before the bulk of the group shows up.]
ooc: probably going to handwave most of the actual training, so if you want to talk to him before the class or jump to after, either way is fine! ALSO, TEACHERS. Feel free to start your own threads! Mamoru's probably going to talk to you about splitting up the students into beginner/intermediate groups, and you're welcome to take on whichever class you want.

ACTION; yes let's wave all the hands
During actual training, she has a bad habit of ignoring half the directions, rushing ahead too fast, thinking she's right, and throwing hissy fits when she's objectively proven wrong
hope you have the patience of a saint, mamoru]

Mamoru will try a couple of different approaches -- if she thinks she's right, he'll let her fight him, come at him, and show her where the weakness in her technique is.
And if she gets too riled up, he'll put a stop to things and try to get her to calm down, relax, get back to a calm state, and then try things again.
How well do these work.]

Then, strangely, he starts improving fast. Well, kind of - those kicks he's doing aren't part of the technique he's supposed to be learning, but they're still good.]
action;
However...]
You're throwing too much weight behind your kicks, it could take out your balance.
[He steps up beside Alan]
Try doing this.
[Shifting his footing slightly, Suzaku demonstrates a similar, but more controlled kick]

then once into the lessons, he doesn't seem like he knows what he is doing that much, but yet half of the time he manages to either duck or block any blows that comes for him. it was almost like he could see them coming before they actually do.]

While the 'younger' of the two Renard boys had been through his share of scrapes, even he was more than willing to admit that what he'd been involved in -or instigated in one case, were little more than open brawls with little consequence. What he -what everyone was staring down these days was outright war with an enemy they knew little about and had very limited capabilities to defend against.
His past couple weeks of turning off the network and pretending it didn't exist proved that things were going to happen with or without him watching. Quite frankly, he was determined not to just let things 'happen' around him.
So he's shown up, game face on and goes through some basic stretches he did before his gym workouts and watches the other 'students' while he waits for someone to pop in and teach him. ]

Anybody talked to you yet?
[It's clear who he's talking to, arms folded. Although not maintaining eye contact is rude, he glances around to see where the other "teachers" are. Cooperative efforts aren't his forte, but he's been trying to keep track of who's gotten some instruction]

Assuming you want to split responsibilities, that work for you? Wasn't clear on how many "teachers" you're having along.

But it's that desire to protect his loved ones that drives him to step into the building, looking around. He's not entirely sure what to do, having only some small knowledge of boxing from the days when his father hoped he'd adopt a more "masculine" pursuit.
However he pays attention to what's going on around him, and puts forth his best efforts. It's obvious he's overthinking in some cases, but he keeps trying]

You're taking too much time landing a punch when someone would've easily knocked you down by now.
[Don't mind her nitpicking, okay? She approaches, extending an arm so she can present Pierce a decently formed fist, fingers tucked in.]
Also, try to make sure your fingers are closed as tightly as possible. Loose fingers during a punch can lead to broken bones. We wouldn't want that now, right?

That's not what he wants to be doing, he wants to fight, an urge he thought was weird until he got the latest vision of his other self, arguing that he should be allowed to do just that. The problem is, they don't know who the real enemy is yet. Weird fish-things and creepy puffballs are bad enough, but Alex has a sneaking suspicion they're just disposable foot soldiers to the real bad guys.
After the official training session breaks up, he sort of hangs around, wanting a chance to test out using his tail, maybe even to spar with someone, but not wanting to freak anyone out with it.]

So come the appropriate time, later in the evening after any other meet-ups she had planned during the day, Aria catches a ride with her car-owning sister to the place. She'll be attentive during the lessons, and dresses for the activity: hair braided back, gym shorts, and a t-shirt she can move around in. While some of it is new to her, she's always been a pretty physically active person, and she's well-coordinated.
Aria's also perky throughout the whole thing, regardless of whether she does badly or not, and is clearly open to speaking to anyone. ]
action;
Breaking out of holds is great, yeah, but today she's learning how to get the max amount of power out of a punch without breaking your own fingers.]

{Kendo Goes Here}
He's got practice dummies to smack around, he's got sets of armor, hell, he's got about a dozen wooden swords of various makes and apparent levels of wear. How he managed to get it all here is anybody's guess, but between seeing to the people training in hand-to-hand, he works on setting these things up.
Though he's not entirely sure who all wants to use a weapon, he considers wooden swords a viable option. So in an area a little apart from the other training, he assembles the dummies and lines up the gear]
Probably more than enough.

Holy shit. I know you said you had gear, but...man, I'm impressed.

At the very least, she came prepared, yoga pants, a simple tanktop and a filled water bottle. She wasn't sure what to expect other than sweating and potentially falling on her butt a lot (that always happened in PE when she was a kid), but in watching everyone else from the sidelines, Thalassa's a little too nervous to hop in and follow any particular person.]
