[Fred, as seems to be normal for him on the network lately, is upset. Distressed, even. All right, let's be honest: he's panicking. He's also pretty out of breath, like he's running while he's talking.]

Help! Somebody... I think... I think they turned my mom... into a monster.

[He just pants for a few seconds, then gulps and goes on.]

I dunno... what to do. She's chasing me, and... and I just... don't know. Help...

[OOC: So my original plans for the execution of this Mystery Event have been foiled by RL imposing on the other player, so here's the improvisational version. Feel free to try to get information or give advice, but PM/ping/PP me if you want your character to actually join in. Any action stuff I want to do in a single thread, probably with one or maybe two other characters. I have no clear idea, at this point, how this is all going to go down, but acto the mods' message Fred's mom'll end up dead within about a day no matter what happens.]

[Hajime is assuming there are types of monsters...the group's got a werewolf, a zombie, and a bug-man, other types do not seem as though they would be a stretch of the imagination.]

You're not going to be able to do anything for her if she catches you, I'm guessing.

[He's wracking his own memories of being a rampaging monster. It is the only frame of reference he has.]

Your best bet's probably some sort of distraction...give her a target she'd rather attack instead. Is there anywhere nearby you think you could get her contained? Closet, storage shed, anything?

I don't see anything.

[After a moment:] How would I trap her without trapping myself too?

You'd need an expendable distraction. Give her something to chase into whatever you wanted to trap her inside.

Where are you, exactly?

[Not that he thinks he can get over there, but he might be able to think of a better way to help if he knew the terrain.]

[Fred tries to think of what could qualify. For a moment his mind goes blank - the only thing he's seen her show any kind of interest in since this started is him. Then, all at once, the images of his dad and sister come to mind. He shudders, trying to push them away.] No!

Sorry. I'm on Maadim, I just passed Prox Drive.

[There's a bit of a wince at the vehemence of that "No!" but Hajime does not press the issue. Really, he'd been thinking of throwing a rock or something and distracting her with the noise. Sacrificing an unlucky squirrel or something at worst.]

Been a while since I've been in those parts...is there still a storage rental place around there? If you could get in and trap her in an empty rental unit, maybe...
