❄ 002: vertical cell phone video

[The video is shaky and cell-phone-like, somebody fumbling with a slick smartphone made even slicker, harder to hold, as is apparent when it finally gets fumbled, tumbling to the ground to land, camera-side-down, with a crack that anyone who's seen an iPhone shatter will recognize.]

[The woman's voice is high, and harried, curses spat out between heavy breaths. Finally, she manages to pick the iPhone back up, a black-haired woman with bright-red blood smeared across pale skin, the phone in one hand, the other clamped over a shoulder. The green cloth of her jacket is even darker with blood. She looks dizzy and strange, though whether that's from blood loss or something else is questionable.]

There was-- someone said there was a clinic of some kind? That can help?

[She lowers the phone to wipe her sleeve across her face, and a muttered comment is caught by the phone.]

I used to have people for this.

[Her sleeve only made her face grimier, the dirt standing out pretty clearly.]

Um. And if anyone knows what to do with a sword. Like. A sword.

[She shakes her head, trying to focus. Clinic, right, clinic. Gotta send it so someone can let her know where the hell it is. So saving the video.]

[She'd wave, but uh, one hand over a wound and the other holding her cellphone to her ear makes that sort of hard. She does manage to pull herself up to a standing position though.]

[Pierce pulls the car up to the curb and parks it, popping the trunk open before he gets out to help her over to the car]

I'm Pierce, by the way.

[Now how to manage this? She almost doesn't want to part with the wrapped-in-a-jacket sword she's got... for some reason, but that should go in the trunk, right?]

Do you want to stick this in the back?

[He acknowledges with a small smile. It's his reflex to smile, though he manages not to beam as he normally might - it's really not the time for that.

His attention flicks to the sword she's holding, noticing her grip]

Only if you're fine with it. Otherwise I can adjust the seat for you.

Um.

[She shakes off something, whether it's wooziness from the adrenaline fading and the bleeding, or something else she isn't sure, but at the same time that voice is in her head saying something about the sword and maybe if she puts it in the back it will shut up... maybe.]

I'm fine. Putting it in the back, I mean. Don't want to forget it, but. Yeah.

Alright. I'll make sure to get it for you then.

[He opens the passenger side door for her, then holds his hand out for the sword. It's not the sort of thing Pierce has handled before, but putting it in the trunk should be simple enough. And it's better that Lucy sits down sooner rather than later, he figures]

[It's wrapped quite well in the sturdy canvas jacket she's wrapped around it, but she's still pretty careful about picking it up and handing it over after slipping her shattered-and-blood-sticky cellphone into a pocket]

Thanks. I don't think I'll forget because of. Um. But just. Remind me.

[Yeah sitting down now in the passenger seat, still trying not to get blood over everything]

[Pierce is quick to take the weapon and place it in the trunk, setting it down as though it's some delicate object. Once he's taken care of that, he rifles through the first aid kit he keeps in his car and gets some fresh gauze out.

The trunk closes with a thunk, and he comes back to the passenger side, offering Lucy the gauze]

[She tries very hard not to stare at him putting the sword away. No need to be creepy to your good samaritan, right?

And she'll take the gauze when it's offered, easing her hand away from the sticky mess that is her shoulder and pressing down the gauze on bright new blood.]

Thanks. Oh! There was. Someone, said he could help, between here and the clinic. At the 7-11?

[While Pierce is surprised at first, he has to admit to himself that somebody with medical skills could well enjoy Slurpees and hot dogs as much as anybody else]

Alright, we'll roll by there first.

[Having said that, he closes the passenger door for her. He steps around the car and gets in, starting it up. And away they go]

I think it was the first public place he could think of. At least it makes sense, right?

[She actually manages to remember and relay the street and cross-street without pulling out her phone to look it up though, so.]

[And in fact, it doesn't take long at all before they pull into the parking lot]

He said he'd stand out. So I guess look for someone who looks like they have weird-ass numbers in their head.

[As a matter of fact, Riku's already in front of the 7-Eleven when they swing by, apparently browsing through something on his phone, as usual, though he glances up every now and then, apparently checking.]

Well, that fellow there seems to be waiting for someone.

[Pierce points to the guy standing in front of the building]

Suppose that's him?

Yes, it looks like him.

[So Pierce parks the car and gets out, approaching this individual]

Excuse me, did you speak with this girl earlier?

[He gestures at Lucy, clearly visible in the car]

[Riku's already walking towards him. He doesn't recognize this guy, but how many other people were out here in a car at this time of the night?]

Yeah, that's me. I'm not a doctor but I might be able to help until you get to one.

[And with that, he just walks over to the passenger seat and pulls the door open.] Where's the cut?

[pitch_slap]

Um.


[Well, she is kind of bloody everywhere, she supposes, so she awkwardly nods her head in the direction of her shoulder.]

[Pierce gets more gauze from the trunk of his car and gets in the driver's side again. He doesn't know what this guy can do, so he places the gauze on the dashboard and waits.

Hopefully, whatever it is, it will benefit Lucy]

[So Riku bends closer to examine the rip and bleeding. Then there's that very odd calm? Shock?] You cold?

[Don't answer that, since he's already hovering, taking a breath because shit, he's never actually tried this on a human before, but if it works on him and plants, it should work on her. When he speaks, it's the softest murmur, like he's afraid someone will hear.] Heal.

[For a moment, nothing happens, then a soft green glow surrounds them for a moment, fading away. Rukia might feel the cut knit up, the pain easing, but it's fragile and may pull open again. Riku casts the spell once more, just to be safe, but any more than this and they definitely need a doctor.]

That should do it, for now.

[Very much shock. Makes her feel slow and stupid. She'd almost not noticed the cold though, for some reason. Typically she hates the cold...]

[And then there's that weird green glow, and the pain easing just a little, even as it itches and just feels weird, she can tell that it's definitely not bleeding anymore, so that's a good thing, right?]

Ah, thanks... That's uh. Impressive.

How's it feel? Anything off?[Any side effects he should know about?]

It's not a full fix, but at least you won't lose any more blood until you get to the clinic. [He gets up and nods at the other white-haired guy.] You guys should still head for the clinic. I'll come with you in case something weird happens.
