Who: Siegfried, Maya and Arthur
What: Siegfried decides to take a risk. A really stupid risk.
When: 7/22
Where: Elledell college campus
There weren't too many students on campus over summer, despite the college's insistence that all students keep up their studies over the entire year, leaving an sort of odd emptiness to the dorms. It was something Siegfried didn't mind, often preferring the solitude where he was able to read his books in peace without interruptions.
It also meant that there were very few people around to comment on his habit of sitting on the open window sill, oblivious to how precarious the perch was.
This day, however, was a touch different. Not in that there were more people to peer up at the pale blond figure in the window, but in that said pale blond figure wasn't sitting on the cil.
He was standing on it, leaning out, one hand almost lazily on the window frame to balance his slight weight as he observed the tree not to far from his sight with an odd sort of calculating gleam.
It wasn't that far... and it would be a long walk down the three flights to climb back up it...
Mind made up, he moved back inside, taking a few steps back to the far side of his room, face a mask of concentration before making a dash for the open window, bare feet hitting the cil just barely to launch him into the air as he reached out to grab for the trunk as he flew towards it.
...But in the end... it wasn't close enough, and his questing fingers only scratched at the trunk before he began to plummet.

"Oh, good grief!"
She was already running, not even thinking about the fact that she was really getting a bit too old for this sort of thing.
Have to break his fall...

"GREAT SCOTT!" He took off at a run, hoping he'd make it in time. It looked as though the older woman rushing towards the falling person was going to beat him there, and he didn't think she looked like she could handle the impact, either. He doubled his efforts, hoping he wouldn't be too late.
Where I wish I had more icon slots for this derp cause I have his falling face :D
His body went lax, arms moving out on instinct to try and slow himself down with air resistance. Go limp and let the body protect itself. Arms in, knees in, neck up... before you hit the ground, tuck in and protect your trunk... if you can land on your feet...
The words from the articles he had read were like a strange reflex as he moved, bracing himself for the shock of impact, utterly unaware of the two rushing towards him.
sorry for TL;DR :V IF IT'S NOT CLEAR SHE CATCHES HIM BUT SHE'S KINDA CHECKED OUT RN
"No, no... no..."
Her armor was normally light as a feather, but here and now it seemed to weigh the world. The sky had turned dark and menacing, the world around them gone from red dust to grey ash.
The boy was falling.
Moments before, she'd pushed herself up from where she'd fallen, her helmet having done its job and protected her skull, now shattered into pieces. Blue hair fell into her face and her breathing was ragged. She stood, and turned, and...
The old master held the boy by his skull, one handed, strong despite his age, strong with the power of Darkness. That enigmatic grin stayed on his face as one-handed he shattered that helmet. And then, worse, far worse, dark ice, dark magic spread through her friend's body, freezing him to the bone.
She could not reach him in time. She was here, and he was a hundred feet above her, and master of magic though she was the distance was too far
"VEN!"
Ven.
Ven was going to die. Her friend was going to die. She ran, and the weight of a thousand years seemed to fall on her shoulders; she ran, and her feet were not fast enough; she pushed just a little harder as he fell and then just a touch of gravity magic to break his fall, oh, Light, he might shatter like that, and she reached out
and
caught him as he fell, but the boy was so heavy that she herself started to fall, holding onto him, but at least she'd broken his fall, and
she held him close, and she knew, touching him, that even her magic couldn't unfreeze his body.
"Ven? Ven, are you... all right?"
The answer was no, but it was more a question of are you alive in there?. Are you alive?
His eyes moved. And then... from above, a sound. The old man flicked his wrist and held in his hand more power than she'd ever held in her life, is this what the darkness can do? and lifted it to heaven. The clouds parted like a breaking wave, spreading open, and there above them was a lurid blue moon, shaped like a great heart.
The Heart. The Heart of All Worlds, K--

...the moment the word-- name-- left his lips, the deeper his confusion became. There had been someone..
...no, no that had been a memory. A--- pulse? Had people been calling them?
Slowly, his body went slack, feeling oddly light and hollow for a lingering moment before his weight seemed to catch up with him as he looked up at the open window he had leapt from, nothing but utter befuddlement in his expression.
Why had he done that...?

"Ah... I'll be all right, I think."
She rubbed her head a little, wincing. "Are you all right?" she asked of the white-haired boy.

He turned to Siegfried. "And you really need to be careful around windows! I know I said you needed to take more risks in your life, but not like THAT!"

She breathed slowly. "I'm all right, I just had... ... I don't know. I'll be fine."

Hey, he spotted a bench. That worked. "Do either of you need to sit down?" Sure, he was curious as to what they'd gotten back, but making sure they were okay took priority.

There was a small twinge in his back that he experimented with, moving the muscle again and again as if trying to work it out. Really, for how far he'd fallen... it was a small miracle.
