Workout [Open log]
Who: Marisa Kirisame, Ryou Bakura, anyone else who goes to the Gym
What: General interactions (open), creepy Vermini encounter (closed)
Where: Bob's Lift to Win Gym
When: Late enough that it's dark out
Warning: Sweat. Bugs.
Marisa emerged from the women's locker room in her street clothes, feeling tired, sore, and healthy. Ever since she had realized that this whole numbers business was potentially seriously dangerous, she had been coming here twice a week to take a self-defense class. She liked to imagine that she was a bit more capable now than she had been a few months ago, but realistically still placed her own skill level at Rank Amateur.
She stopped as she was walking by the snack bar by the exit, lured by the thought of smoothies. After a moment's thought, she decided that the grilled cheese sandwich she'd made for dinner wasn't cutting it, and stopped to get a snack. Nothing like a delicious apple/peach smoothie after a long workout on a hot night. She leaned back in one of the leather chairs by the snack bar and took her time enjoying it. Anyone from the network who goes to the gym can probably recognize her.
[Later, closed]
Marisa finally left the building and immediately noticed that the sun had finished going down while she had been drinking her smoothie, and that the lights in the parking lot were on the fritz, leaving it almost pitch black out. Combined with the total lack of people around for the moment, she was more than a little bit creeped out.
Fortunately her truck wasn't far. She could make out its silhouette from here.

Since their lives have become really scary.
"Anyways. I just finished and I'm cooling off."

After a moment, she added on an "Oh yeah!" and started digging through her purse.
"Wanted to show you something."

She tossed him a thing. It was made of wood and metal, fit comfortably in the palm of his hand, weighed like it was mostly metal on the inside, and (most oddly) there were little currents of air blowing away from it, like it had miniature, invisible fans affixed to each corner somehow.
"Ever seen something like that? It just showed up in my room like the hat did."
no subject
"Does it still do that weird air thingi when no one's holding it? It might have one of those "uses the electricity of your hand to power a fan" thingis in it."
And if not? It was significantly more awesome.
He paused a moment.
"Wait, what hat?"
no subject
"Did I never mention that? I got a hat like the day I moved here. It's a big, black, frilly witch hat with a white bow on it. It just kind of quietly appeared on my bed while I was looking away. This thing did too. It was in my hand when I woke up the morning after that little midnight forest party."

She's just glad she's not turning into a robot or zombie like some other people.

Hey, what if that's what this is? Us just some how picking up other people's stories and thinking they're our own?"

She finished off her smoothie in one big go, then grimaced from brain freeze for a moment before standing up and stretching. "It's a lot to think about, but I think I'm gonna go home."

Him and cars.... were not on speaking terms. He could manage in his grandmother's boat of a station wagon and he had survived the trip in Lyall's car, but if he could help it? He'd rather walk or take the bus.

She took thoughtful sip of smoothie. "...Hey, I've got to renew my gym membership, the free trial's running out, like, tomorrow. If you're done by the time I'm done with that, want a ride? It's not really that far out of my way."

"Wouldn't want to leave my bike behind anyway!"
Shall we skip ahead to the action after this? Perhaps start a new thread?
"Okie dokie then. I'm headed home when I'm done with this."
Sure! I can drop him down to the parking lot one?
He nodded, taking a long, noisey slurp of his drink. "See you around, then!" he announced, getting up and chucking the cup into the bin. Pulling the towel around his shoulders up into a knot to hold back his hair, he thumped down the stairs of the snack area, back out into the gym proper.
Yus :)
Hmm...vegetarian burritos might not be TOO gross...
