Oh, it was the guy who had been teleporting, and freezing monsters, in the caves. Alex hoped he'd gotten the jumping around under better control--if he'd been able to, it was probably a good sign for his own 'power.' (He still wasn't sure being able to grow a tail counted as a real power.)
