PLOT: THE ATTACK ON THE FARMHOUSE

Who: Characters listed under Part 2 of the IC plan.
When: March 9th, Sunday, daylight hours.
Where: The alien’s farmhouse.
What: After several weeks of planning, a group of reincarnates attack the alien’s farmhouse base in the hopes of destroying the alien.
Warnings: Violence.

[ OOC: This is part one of two of Season 1’s finale. The other pertinent plot post.

The following NPCs will be played by mods:
- Skullsy and Moulder.
- The alien.
- The alien's steed.

The rest of the NPCs can be played by players or mods.
- The chimeras: descriptions provided in the Underground team's first thread.
- Sniffer dogs: straight-forward. Besides their altered noses, they attack like regular dogs.
- Corrupt cops: pick one main attribute OR several minor attributes from a domesticated farm animal or an animal that might be found on a farm.
Example:
corrupt cop with one main attribute of a horse: extremely powerful legs that allow the cop to break bones with a single kick, run very quickly, and stand for long periods of time without ache.
corrupt cop with several minor attributes of a horse: teeth that continually grow, horse hearing, and night vision.

Examples of domesticated farm animals: cattle, swine, poultry, rabbits, goats, sheep, horses.
Examples of animals that might be found on a farm: cats, dogs, owls, rats.

Characters who engage the alien in battle will not escape unscathed. If you intend to have your character participate in both the farmhouse attack and Wise Snake’s rampage, please plan accordingly. We will operate on a trust system and may ask for clarification on the logistics of a character’s participation in both if we find it necessary. ]

Relatively early, before things get crazy

[Though L feels this is arguably more important than work, his fascination with the situation in the farmhouse has driven him to, at the very least, be a part of mission control. Surveillance is good, the area seems as secure as they can make it, and though he can't be here long, he wants to make every second count.

He might not be well-suited to fighting an alien in the flesh or even scouting, but sitting at a computer desk surrounded by camera feeds and computer screens feels oddly natural to him.]

[Asuka drums her fingers on a desk nearby in the safehouse. Still lacking anything remotely like combat skill or, say, a gun, she wound up getting shuffled into errand running for mission control. She's pissed that she can't do something more useful, but she doesn't want to die, either.]

[Still, this setup was fairly impressive, considering what the Network people usually got up to.]

Well, at least we look organized this time.

[L's shuffled a few things around to his liking, but he'll take that as a compliment.]

This time? What was it like last time? I don't think I was "awake" to the network, at that point, and if I was I was occupied with other things, perhaps...

[He trails off, wondering if it would be appropriate to ask the errand runner for a coffee refill. His eyes linger meaningfully on the empty cup as he mulls it over.]

[Asuka wordlessly snatches the empty cup, convincing herself that this is practice for internships.]

I don't know if you've ever been to a Network shindig before, but it's usually about an hour of accomplishing nothing followed by monster attack.

Unrelatedly, do you carry a gun?

[dead_black_eyes]

[That is unrelated, and it causes his wide, dark eyes to blink twice rapidly.]

A gun? Why do you ask?

For when the hour's up and it's monster attack time, obviously.

[He glances away. It's hard to make L uncomfortable, really hard, but this seems to have done it.]

I won't be here for that. I'm just here to assist with initial coordination... but no, I don't carry a gun. Do you?

I guess getting out of here before we attract attention's a valid strategy too...and no, we're a little far north of the Mason-Dixon line for anyone to sell one to a fifteen year old.

[She sighs.]

On the other hand, maybe with the Snakes gone and the alien having to focus on defense, maybe it's actually safe this time.

[dead_black_eyes]

[He's staring into one of the monitors as if his world consists of it.]

There are some tough people out there. I'm not particularly worried, given what they've dealt with before, but it's better for some of us to be removed from danger.

[soulsborderline]

[Asuka goes and actually refills the coffee cup to distract herself from going on the rant she wants to. She feels useless enough without whining about it to some guy's face.]

[When she returns, though, she still can't help herself]

I shouldn't be removed from danger, dammit. I remember fighting stuff way worse than some midget ET. Ow!

[Naturally, she burnt herself a little with the coffee while gesturing for emphasis there. She puts it down in a hurry.]

[He appreciates that, both the coffee and the holding off on whining.]

Look, your enthusiasm is admirable, but no one knows what's going on out there. No one thinks you're a coward, or weak, they just thought you'd be best utilized in this capacity.

[He reflexively jerks slightly when she burns herself and puts the coffee down in quite a rush. His hands snap out, there's a brief flash of scar tissue at his wrists, and then they're out of sight again once he's sure he's out of danger of being doused in hot coffee.]

What I'm saying is... this is important, too. I'm glad someone else is here, for one...

Well, at least someone appreciates my company. It's just a pain to be held back, you know?

[She notices the scar tissue, but doesn't ask about it. It's either exactly what she thinks, in which case she doesn't want to hear the story, or he had an amusing accident with handcuffs at some point, in which case she doesn't want to know.]

[dead_black_eyes]

Yeah, I know.

[He knows really well, and there's just a trace of bitterness in his voice, but he recovers admirably. Like most people who bury their feelings, L is good at looking OK.]

Next time, it'll be your turn to be the hero and someone else will be stuck getting me coffee. You didn't burn yourself too badly, did you? I think there's a first aid kit on the wall over there with some burn salve.

It's fine. This isn't exactly McDonald's coffee here.

[Indeed, just about all it did was derail her train of thought. It would have been a pretty fair Echo were she a very slightly different character, but alas.]

What do you suppose "next time" will be, after we get this alien guy?

[L snorts softly, reaching over to change the perspective on some of the cameras he's observing.]

Honestly, your guess is as good as mine. There's no guarantee that the alien is even the main problem. It could be the tip of the iceberg, for all we know. Probably not... but there's enough going on to make every day a challenge that fewer monsters is fine by me.
