[Jan 25, shortly after the meeting and the accidental death of David Proud.]

[Ravi just feels numb, but he realizes it's important to inform the network how things turned out, so here he is. everything is still kind of sinking in, so he doesn't have much to say about it beyond the bare facts.]

Snakes are gone. Proud is dead.

[pause. he considers adding in a 'sorry,' but ultimately decides it's too much effort in his current emotional state and doesn't.]

Are you okay?

[response doesn't come until late afternoon because thank you graveyard shift sleep cycle]

[he is not okay. there are a lot of reasons he is not okay, and they are only tangentially related to the fact that he inadvertently got Proud killed.]

I'll be fine.

[That's not exactly the question Nick asked, but it still answers it in a roundabout way, so Nick doesn't call him on it. If Ravi was badly physically injured, he would have said something, and Nick wouldn't really expect him to be all that okay otherwise.]

What happened? I was a little bit distracted with a werewolf.

We took Proud to the mines to lure the snakes there so we could get rid of them safely. We tried to protect him but he ran off and got caught in the explosion.

[simple, concise. he really really does not want to get more detailed than that.]

[There's a lot more Nick wants to know - but he's by now, he's read through the replies to this that he missed yesterday, and he's pretty sure there's nothing more to say on the matter. Ravi's already been called a murderer and told that Proud's death was no big loss, he's had the full gamut of responses.

That, and - Nick himself isn't exactly sure how to feel about this.]

Do you need anything? I don't know if there's anything I can really offer aside from a case of beer and someone to drink it with, but it'll at least be good beer.

[it would be a tempting offer if he hadn't just spent the night taking Brooke up on the same one. he also doesn't quite know Nick well enough to feel comfortable dumping his issues on him yet.]

[but... well, he has a grand total of about three friends, and two of them are not currently speaking to him. they will probably never speak to him again ~~Ravi don't be dramatic~~ so he certainly takes note of Nick's offer, despite his reluctance to accept it.]

[because maybe a week from now he'll end up making Brooke hate him too somehow and then he will have a grand total of zero people who actually want him around! congrats Nick you just became his backup friend.]

But he hadn't really expected Ravi to take him up on the offer. It'd been more important that he made it. He trusts Ravi at least more than most people on here, and that's something that's worth a lot.

So he makes this private, and writes down his cell phone number.]

[he stares at it for a minute, not quite sure how to feel. giving someone your phone number is actually kind of a big deal, he thinks, especially when it's so easy to just use network numbers instead.]
