Video | How much do these suppers cost? We'll take them out in hate.
[At first the camera doesn't show Fay, since he hovers out of view for a moment, to the left judging by his voice.]
Ah, so... Something a bit unpleasant happened a while ago while I was helping out a friend here on the network. That is to say, not in the actual helping out - though it got a bit dramatic there for a moment - but I got another of those pulse-thingies back.
[An off-screen sigh, and then Fay sits down in front of the camera. Notice anything different? Well, probably if you've ever seen him before. He's wearing some cloth over his left eye.]
Or rather, one of those pulse-thingies took something from me. My eye, to be precise.
[He's still smiling, but it's clearly more a reflex than anything, because he certainly doesn't look happy.]
The vampire thing seems to compensate a bit for the loss, but I'm still not jumping for joy, you know? I should've expected it, considering I remember someone eating it, but... well, it's not the sort of thing you can prepare for.
So I'm just wondering... I mean, the whole point with these things has seemed to me that we're still supposed to get things we didn't have before, not... lose things that are kind of useful to have, right? So has this happened to anyone else?

How's your sight? Having lost half of your vision has got to be wonky for you.
Voice
[A wry little laugh, which is followed by a sigh.]
My depth perception went there for a while, I kept walking into things. But I think since my vision was already better than a human's, that's compensating for it.
Voice
I'm glad it's not interfering too much with your daily life. If I suddenly lost an eye I don't think I'll be able to do my job any more.
Voice
[He makes a sour little noise.] It ain't interfering as such, but my job kind of involves looking pretty, so it was a bit of a drag to have to go there with a damn patch on my eye. You don't wanna know what it looks like underneath. [Not as hideous as he makes it out. There's some rather neat scarring there, and mostly it just looks sunken.]
Voice
[Fil has always been a bit of an optimist, but this is enough to even make him feel sombre. So he tries to bring the topic back to something less dour.] Are you a model then?
The eye patch can be a personal fashion statement of some sort? Decorate it with...feathers or something?
Voice
[At least that gets some hearty laughter out of him.] No cigar, sweetie, I'm a stripper. Mind you, decoranting it ain't a half bad idea. At least that would make me look a bit less like a durn pirate.

Do your um...patrons..tip you? Costumes should totally earn you extra!
Even turning blue can be explained as an accident....you accidentally got dumped permanent blue pain all over you?
Voice
[He laughs easily.]
And I guess so, but you'd still be attracting looks, and that ain't healthy for us Numbers people. I'm counting myself lucky that the rest of my physical changes are easy enough to hide.
Voice
[Fil's grinning too now.]
You're way ahead of me I think. Or I wonder if I'm going to be lucky enough to skip the physical changes altogether.
Voice
[He grimaces, unseen, but there's a small exasperated noise to accompany it.]
Pray you will. Easy to hide as they are, it sure hurt like a bitch and a half to suddenly just change. Though I've heard the changes are gradual for some.
Voice
I've been duly warned.
Voice
[He makes a soft noise of amusement.] For what it's worth, huh?
