Closed Action
Who:Luke, Evelyn, and Asuka
When: January 4th afternoon
Where: The subway/tunnels
What: Luke wants Evelyn to get echos. Evelyn wants to one up Asuka. Asuka wants no one to die. (Also to one up Evelyn.)
[Luke is excited. He's very excited actually. But he's not nearly as foolish and reckless as everyone seems to think. There's an edge of hesitation in his step. He remembers everything that's happened, but this time, finally he feels really prepared. He's got a sword for close range and small damage, bombs for medium range and damage, and if everything else fails he has Din's Fire as a last resort. And besides, they're not going anywhere near the dead district. They won't run into any people, and as tough as the statues might be, they're don't scream or bleed give of horrible choking fumes as they burn.
He shakes his head to clear it and reaches up to take Evelyn's hand, ducking under some fading and frayed DO NOT CROSS tape deeper into the closed subway tunnel.]
There should be some statues down this way pr- Zelda. Do you remember anything else yet?
[After his question, Luke casts a look over his shoulder, making sure Asuka is keeping up. Having her around was definitely comforting. He didn't know what kinds of echos she'd gotten so far, but given her attitude he assumes they're super cool and probably guns? Maybe lasers. He's glad to have her as backup.]

Nothing yet. [which was sort of a bummer! she wanted to be a cave-exploring princess too.] ...Maybe we just need to go deeper.
[which might as well have a question mark after the end of it, because this is a pretty sketchy area...]
no subject
[Asuka doesn't really want to be here. She is well aware that a) subway tunnels are nasty and b) she has no idea how to fight pink rock monsters. On the other hand, not even she could, in good conscience, let this kid wander around unsupervised after what had happened during the earthquake.]
[Plus, she's still kind of mad that someone else gets to be a princess instead of her.]
no subject
[Luke is clearly the only one with any real enthusiasm for their task, but it doesn't seem like he's really noticed. He's pushing ahead, sword in his left hand at the ready in front of him, and still holding onto Zelda with his right.
As they get further down into the tunnel, the damage from the earthquake becomes more obvious. The stone and tile around them have more cracks, and in the trench beside them where the tracks are, the metal is twisted and bent in places.]
no subject
[but she stops at one point, shining the flashlight around to look at all the damage and squeezing Luke's hand for a moment-- to, uh, make sure he was safe, of course.] ...It's still structurally sound, right?
no subject
[Asuka looks around at the cracked tunnel siding, trying to cover her own nervousness with a show of jaded experienced. She'd been at this Numbers thing way longer than either of them, hadn't she?]
I'm actually surprised these things are still standing at all. There's a reason LA doesn't have a subway.
no subject
It's probably fine.
[Kinda.]
All the stuff that was gonna totally cave in already did, and this is the stuff that's left.
no subject
[She glances over her shoulder towards the exit, about to suggest they go back... but Asuka looks pretty unbothered, and Luke's charging ahead...]
...Let's just find this thing quickly.
no subject
[She looks down the corridor.]
On the plus side, I think I just remembered something! [Try to sound more smug, Asuka.] It wasn't subway tunnels, but I definitely had to navigate a couple people through something like this at least once.
[She strides forward confidently, only to remember about when she draws even with Luke that she's still completely unarmed.]
...experience says to let the guy with the sword go first. Just...hang a right at the first opportunity, alright Luke?
no subject
He looks up at her for a moment when it looks like she's going to take the lead, then nods.]
Alright.
[He drops Evelyn's hand at last, spurring himself to stay a few steps in front of them. If they do run into some trouble, he wants to be out front after all. Luke turns right at the next time he can, and presto. In the distance there's a skulking statue sneaking around. Luke perks up, points, and makes a beeline for the snake creature, not a single hint of subtlety in his body.]
Oh look! There's one.
no subject
[She wants to protest Luke going first, but when it comes down to it, he's the most prepared out of all of them, which is... pretty sad.]
[She freezes up at the hint of movement, but Luke's already heading right for it.] Um... so we just see it and go, right?
no subject
[As Luke starts to charge ahead, Asuka tries to grab him by the shirt collar and yank him back, preferably around a corner.]
What are you doing? Those things attack on sight!
no subject
Well yeah?
[He leans his head to peer around the corner, helpfully lowering his voice, as the statue's head was darting around, clearly on an increased threat level, although it didn't seem to have located their position yet.]
I thought that's what we were doing. Fightin' an getting echos and stuff.
[He gestures halfheartedly with his sword. Come onnnn, let him at 'em!]
no subject
[which came out a little too shrill, considering they're in immediate and obvious danger, so she drops her voice down to a frantic whisper]
What if we destroy a... a load-bearing wall, we could get trapped down here!
no subject
[That was just a theory, but if there's one time Asuka's going to be careful, it's when she's stuck in a small, unstable tunnel with the possibility of an explosion.]
We need to be ready to run when we get its attention, not charge ahead.
[Wow saying that felt unnatural, but Asuka has some self-preservation instinct.]
no subject
[Luke was really looking forward to getting to really beat up on something and knowing it was okay to do. But that was a pretty good point about the walls and stuff. Dang it. He squirms a little bit, adjusting his grip on his sword's hilt. He puts on the best wide eyed pout he can muster.]
So that means no bombs, huh?
no subject
[she's still hissing in her not-whisper, before glancing between the two of them and steeling her nerves.]
Okay, I'm just going to... run up and run back. That'll be fine, right? I'll get the stupid echo, and then we're leaving.
[and she starts creeping forward, with regular glances behind her to make sure there are no bombs]
no subject
[That was probably way too loud after all the whispering. Asuka winces at herself and then goes back to whispering at Link.]
No, no bombs! In fact, wait here.
[She follows after Evelyn, ready to do...something if the snake charges or something.]
Let me know when you start getting vertigo.
no subject
Hey wait! I should be in front, I'm the one with the sword.
[You guyssss he's supposed to be protecting YOU. Curse both of you and your longer legs!]
no subject
[It's in this mess of pushing in front of each other that it hits, the now-familiar thudding, and she stops dead in her tracks as she realizes just how close she got to the snake.]
...Okay I have it we can go. [she breathes, standing perfectly still]
