[At the entrance of the bat, no one was shrieking louder than Hajime's mother. She's the only one of the two owners present, and with the way she's screaming, one would think a crazed chainsaw killer had just burst in through the doors.

This is not good, because her son is very protective of his family and nothing makes his mom scream like that and gets away with it. Some of the customers and staff are fleeing the area in a panic, but Hajime jumps over the counter--far easier than he should be able to, but no one's paying attention to the bugman's surprising agility with the GIANT BAT flying around--and grabs a large golf umbrella some customer forgot in a corner. It's a good enough makeshift weapon.

Good news, Batlex, at least Hajime's short.]

[[Wait, suddenly screaming? What's going on here?

Bakura abandons his sushi, getting to his feet and running over.]]

Hajime, what's--

[[And he stops, eyes widening. Wow, that was a huge---]]

Aaa! Stop it! [[He grabs hold of Hajime's arm, pulling down to try and stop him from swinging the umbrella around]] You're just going to panic it more with that, I've got it, move!

[[and with that, he's shimmying out of his hoody, eyes trained on the bat. Soon as it gets close enough]]

[ jhfdjdf ear assault, ear assault, how do lyall and reilanin live with better hearing, this is terrible. he grabs a hold of a lazily arcing fanblade and hangs on for dear life, mentally willing hajime's mom to stop screaming.

meanwhile, the rowdy group is nowhere to be found because fuck getting on the badside of a short japanese dude waving a golf umbrella around. DID YOU SEE HOW HE JUMPED OVER THAT COUNTER? definitely a ninja. ]

[Hajime gladly would have taken the golf umbrella to a rowdy group outside the restaurant, but for now, he's stopping with the swinging so he doesn't accidentally kill Bakura with bugman super strength. At least he's stepped aside to allow Bakura to try with the hoodie.]

I can't have bats flying around this restaurant! And look at that thing--it's huge, and it's probably deranged or rabid or something, flying in here like that.

[The sad thing is he'd be the first one to get really sympathetic to the idea of being trapped in some horrible nonhuman form, but he's not thinking along those lines. And he'll turn and call over his shoulder in Japanese.]

Mom, I'm taking care of it, go outside or something!

[The bat wasn't the only one whose ears were starting to hurt.]

I know, I know! Just go take care of your mother, I've got this, [[Bakura swaps language as well, frowning a bit at the rotating bat. How to--aa!]]

Let me borrow this a moment...

[[He drags over a chair before grabbing the umbrella from his friend. One step up, one hand holding the umbrella into the blades to stop the rotating the other readying the hoodie]]

Calm down big guy, I'll get you somewhere safe...

[[Pretty sure the bat can't understand him, but hopefully the soft, calm tone would help...?

Not that it matters too much because the moment he's sure he won't miss, the hoodie's being tossed up and over the bat so that he can gently pull it off the fan without it scratching his face up]]

[ vaguely, batlex registers the two remaining people as bakura and hajime, but unfortunately it's turning out that hitching a ride on a fan isn't the best of ideas, even if it isn't going very fast.

mildly disoriented, it's p damn easy to get the hoodie over him. at this stage in the game, he is tired enough to bet on bakura and hajime not trying to insta-kill him-slash-turn-him-over-to-animal-control.

BUT HOW TO COMMUNICATE??? ]

[Hajime's gaze remains on the bat. It has invaded his territory, and he feels like his blood's boiling. That invasion is a challenge to fight...in other words, it's tripped his bugmonster fight instincts. It's all he can do not to call out the transformation belt, but when Bakura takes the umbrella, he grabs a chair like he's going to use that as a weapon instead.

And he's strong enough to make it look like he might as well be using a flyswatter. So reassuring.]

Be careful with that thing! It's probably diseased.

[[carefully making sure the bat is secure in the hoody before hopping down from the chair, holding out the umbrella for Hajime to take again]] That's what the hoodie's for. It can't scratch or bite through it.

...put the chair down, would you? It's just a bat... I'll take it outside. Down to the park or something.

[[...maybe take it home]]

[ no, he is not diseased!! (he better not be.)

he does retaliate at the mention of the park, wriggling inside the hoodie and making abrupt, chittering noises. no park, pls. ]

[At the wriggling, Hajime sort of raises the chair like he's thinking that bat is going to pop free and need to be smacked down at any moment.]

Look at the size of that thing--how do we know it's not like some of those other freaky mutated animals that have been hanging around?

[Come onnnnnn these bugmonster instincts want to smash something now come onnnnnn]

[[He can't help but make a bit of a face at that. What, are you afraid of this thing or something, Hajime? C'mooon!]]

Because it would have bit someone's face off rather than try and hide on the ceiling fan... Now put that chair down already. I've got it, it's not gonna get out.

[[He's curious at the noises, though.]]

I'm going to take him outside, okay? See if he's hurt. See what kind of bat he is... some of them get pretty big, after all!

Okay if I go out the back, so I'm not peering at a bat in front of the store?

[ 'put that chair down'?! holy shit, hajime, what are you planning to do with it?

nevermind, he's just going to stay quiet and let bakura spare him from hajime's bugfury. egads. ]

[Hajime sets the chair down with a slight growl. Sorry, Batlex, crazy bug instincts gotta do what they gotta do.]

Let me go on ahead and get my mom out of the way, then, because if she sees it again, she's going to start screaming again.

[Absolutely no one within a three block radius wants that. He grabs the umbrella as he rushes out there to tell his mother that yes, the bat had been taken care of, no, he did not bash its skull in, and that his crazy friend wanted to check on it so she maybe should get out of there for a bit. At least it'll be all clear when Bakura gets out there with the poor bat, because everyone back there decided to vacate the area.]

Like I said, it's not going to get out...

[[But he waits, then heads back]]

Sorry for all the commotion! The problem is being taken care of!

[[and with that, he steps outside with a sigh]]

All that fuss over a bat... C'mon you, let's have a look, okay?

[[carefully shifting the hoodie to get a look at the thing while still keeping it wrapped up enough that nooo face scratching can happen]]

[ he understands the fuss tbh. not only is he a big bat (ergh), but he's an odd acting one, and odd acting is always suspect for rabies.

since it's pretty obvious bakura carries no ill will towards him, batlex just stares right back at him. it's the bat equivalent of :T. ]

Mmm... you don't seem rabid or anything... Or at least you're pretty calm. [[he shifts a moment, pulling out his phone to start googling stuff.]]

[Rabid or no, Hajime is waiting with that umbrella in case the bat needs a good smackdown. He's holding it in his left hand while his right keeps dropping to the spot on his waist where his card box would be were his fancy transformation belt visible.]

A vampire bat? Do not say anything of that sort to my mother. I'm pretty sure it would take us a couple hours to calm her down. I'll tell her it was a big fruit bat.

[He is continuing to scowl at poor Batlex with no idea of what's really going on here and will be so very sorry once he realizes.]

And it's not acting like any of those cave bats did. It's being really calm, not that it's not being chased. Pretty likely he escaped from the zoo or something.. maybe some sort of center or something like that. Or even could be someone's pet. I'll call around and check.

[[a pause to muse]] I wonder if it's hungry maybe...

Well, if it is, don't look at me. It probably couldn't handle green.

[Even if he still looks sour about the whole thing, that Hajime is willing to make a joke is probably a good sign that he is coming out of KILL ALL BATS crazy bugman mode.]

[[a promising sign! Bakura rewards it with a smile]] Wouldn't think of it. Don't really want it feeding off a person anyway. Was thinking maybe a bit of raw meat. You've got scraps or something, right? If it's fresh enough, it should be able to get what it needs from that.
