[Ever since discovering that his number worked on more than just his small chalkboard, Luke has been scrawling, typing, and tapping it into or onto every surface he could thing of. As long as no one was looking of course. Unfortunately for Luke, the only computer in his house resides in his Grandfather's study. It's old and slow and "not for playing around on", so to do anything more than handwriting on the network he's had to get a bit creative. As for right now, the video feed shows a somewhat sparsely furnished but nice living room. There's a couch, a coffee table, a few family photos on the walls in the distance, and a few half unpacked boxes around the edge of the room. In the center is Luke. He's looking intently at a chalkboard in one hand, verifying that the video is working properly. When he sees himself standing there he smiles and puts it down, then leans in closer to the camera and speaks in a quiet voice.]

Okay I wasn't sure how this one was going to work, but this works. I'm connecting with my TV [He holds up the remote and waves it for a moment.] cause I needed to show you guys something and I'm not a very good drawer.

[He leaves the frame and comes back holding up a sword with a huge smile on his face. His voice remains quiet, but the bounce in his step implies that that's taking some effort.]

I got a sword. Isn't it cool?

[He's not going to tell him to be careful because Gavin is not his mother. If they were in the same room and Luke was going to hurt himself, sure, but...]

[Gavin fiddles with the ring on his finger idly.]

Did you remember its name?

[Luke opens his mouth to answer, but then frowns, and after a moment shakes his head with a hint of embarrassment. He holds up the sword and looks at it closely as if hoping that it had a name on it somewhere and he just missed it.]

...I don't think it has one?

Then you should give it one. Weapons should have names, right?

[His face screws up into a thoughtful frown. He looks at the sword, now trying to find something special or unique about the sword as a whole. Something to base the name on. But all in all, the sword is pretty plain. Muted simple brown handle, straight solid blade. The only thing that stands out is the one small pinkish jewel in the hilt. His frown softens as he looks at it, his mind grasping for some kind of meaning to put onto the object in his hand. An idea forms, but he hesitates too long to say it and looses his confidence.]

Hmmm. Maybe....no that's dumb. I don't know. What would you call it?

What was dumb? I can't name it for you.

[He's not Elrond.]

[Luke looks at the ground and shuffles his feet a bit. He feels put on the spot and it's not a comfortable sort of feeling. He's mumbling terribly now, but everything is still audible, if subdued.]

I just sorta...thought cause of the jewel I could call it Heart. But that's really girly for a sword.

[/Frown pout.]

Doesn't matter if it's girly, though. She-Ra was a girl and she still kicked everyone's ass.

[This kid is like seven, Gavin, he doesn't know anything about 80s cartoons.]

[Do you hear a faint whistle? Like a lost hope blowing away on the wind? That's the sound of your reference sailing through the air, miles above Luke's head.

He tilts his head in confusion and just blinks, waiting to see if Gavin will elaborate.]

Uh... she's like, a warrior princess. Like Xena!

[2003 Gavin, he was born in 2003. He was beginning to be aware of television in 2007 at the earliest. Luke's big blinking eyes carry one message and that message is: YOU'RE OLD.]

[Shit. He's old......]

[He was about to just link Luke the opening on Youtube or something but he rewatched them and...wow, they're pretty lame. Nothing ages that well, it seems.]

[Small frown for lost shows. He does not yet fully understand the heartbreaking world of television networking executives and cancellations.

Weren't they just talking about swords? Luke is pretty sure they used to be talking about swords. Whatever cartoons are great too.]

It's really sad when shows get cancelled, I understand that.

Any way, my point was that plenty of characters with swords are girls, and most dudes with swords name them after girls they like. Heck, sometimes the sword's alive and a girl.

[Luke spots several flaws in your reasoning. A) None of the shows he mentioned have swords in them. B) All three shows discussed focus on dudes. C) The only girl he can think of in Chowder is annoying and plainly creepy.

Luke makes a face. A clearly not agreeing with you but not going to say anything to you about it face. It looks sort of like this: >:C]

[He puts his hands up, sighing.]

[Well that is not the reaction Luke is used to. Pouting to or near adults normally gets him a don't you give me attitude Luke Theodore Kokiren or a general respect your elders young man. This sort of backing off is an unprecedented event. His grumpy glower lessens to more of a concerned frown as he almost apologetically answers.]

...I don't wanna name my sword after Panini.

[Panini? They're talking about sandwiches now-- wait, no he gets it.]

I think we lost communication there for a second. I didn't mean name it after her, I was just trying to tell you a sword having a girly name is actually kind of normal.

Oh.

[The last remaining bits of his grump and indignation melt away. He's still not 100% convinced, but. It's not like he has to TELL everybody his sword's name or anything right? Right. And hey, maybe in a few days he'll remember what it's supposed to be called anyway.]

Okay.

That's all.

[Luke nods, eyeing his sword again.]

Mhm.

I'll call it heart.

[In his own head. Quietly.]
