Who: Kotetsu, Nick, and Toni
Where: Police station
When: Night of the 16th?
What: The reincarnate cops investigate Candy's disappearance. Nothing is beautiful and everything hurts.
[Karson's post had been...distressing, to say the least. Looking through the comments of that post had revealed that a missing person report had already been filed, contrary to his original assumption. From there, he'd decided to try to get his hands on the missing persons cases they'd had on file; it wasn't particularly difficult, what with Nick's position as a detective.
...Except for the part where there was apparently no 'Candy' in any of the reports. That...did not bode well at all, and so here they were, sneaking around the station at night, trying to find any evidence of whether the police took her, and what they might have done with her if they did. They'd been told previously to arrest anyone publicly laughing or seeming to hallucinate...had she been caught? So far, nothing had been in the news like it had with Paul, so there was hope she was alive, at least.]
Do you know when the guy in the room with all the security cameras takes his break? We could slip in, then.

If he's honest, he's mostly doing this to try to prove that the force isn't as involved as a lot of people seem to think it is. There's no arrest record for this woman, there's no paperwork, there's nothing to say the police had been involved in any capacity. So they shouldn't find anything to say she's been there, and that's what Nick's shooting for.]
Yeah, he should be going out in a few minutes. He usually goes to get burritos from that food cart a few blocks over, so we should have at least a half an hour.

Especially with the gruesome video of that poor man who tried to seek help from them.
So dressed in civilian clothing that covers a good deal of her features, hoodie and cap and all, she darts into the building as soon as she's sure the security guard is gone and not likely to come back immediately, making sure to make her steps light so they wont be heard. Ideally Toni would have done something about those security cameras so she would have more time to go around undetected, but those machines aren't her area of expertise.
Too bad she doesn't know other people are about to do the same thing.]

[Or so he hopes, at least. A little longer would've been nice for a more thorough search, but they've got to work with what they have. Right on schedule, said guard leaves, and the coast is clear for them to sneak in. But he hesitates a moment.]
--Hey. You know, if you just wanna be on lookout for me or something and not go inside, that'd be fine.
[He knows Nick is more or less humoring him as a friend here, even if Kotetsu wishes the younger man believed him. But if Nick would rather maintain some semblance of plausible deniability, he'd understand.]

No. If there's something here, I want to know.
[And if there's nothing there, then it'll be more proof that the police force isn't as involved as everyone's thinking, but Nick doesn't want to say that. He knows Kotetsu's stance on things.]
Besides, I work enough over time that if someone comes in, I'm sure I can think of something.
[He heads towards the room, keeping an eye out just in case the guard comes back.]

Thieves? Other criminals? She doesn't know, they can be anyone, especially when she'd only heard voices, but not what they were saying or who they are.
She just hopes she has enough time to get what she needs, or at least some small part of it, and then get out.
Worse comes to worst, she may have to fight her way out, though she doesn't have her gun. A telescopic baton, yes, but not her gun. In fact, she expects to be attacked and accosted, so she pulls it out already with one hand, the other still on the keyboard.
Are they coming here, or moving on is the biggest question.]

[A small, nervous smile. He doesn't know what they'll find, if anything at all, and he's almost as nervous about coming up empty as actually turning up something.
Onto the room they go, and despite the both of them keeping watch for anyone who might unexpectedly be around, he's still unprepared to find someone else in that room. Especially someone who doesn't seem to be another cop.]
Wh-who's there?!
[Pity they can't really accuse her of trespassing, considering they're sort of doing the same. Or at least, poking around where they shouldn't be.]
no subject
If there's a little bit of doubt, he's ignoring it.
Except apparently someone's already beaten them to sneaking into room - and as little reason as they have to be here, Nick's betting that whoever this is has even less of one.]
Whatever you're looking for, you picked the wrong time to do it.

Sergeant Kotetsu Kaburagi, one of those who'd welcomed her to the force, and was actually enthusiastic about it.
Detective Nick Burkhardt, tends to be very quiet. Toni doesn't know much about him, to be honest.
However, she does know Kotetsu is aware of the network-- very vocal on it in fact, and she remembers his first post like it had been only yesterday. She almost talked to him about that once, but kept her mouth shut.
But she thinks she can be okay with these two. So she places one foot outside of the room, one still inside, in case she decides to run another way. The hood and cap though, they stay on. For now.]
I imagine we all picked the wrong time to do such a thing.

...Toni?
[He's about 99% sure it's her, but there's still a thin shred of disbelief in his voice.]
no subject
He has no idea that Toni's on the network, but he still relaxes a little. It's much better than he'd expected, considering he thought it was a random civilian breaking into the security room to do who knows what.
Really inconvenient for what he and Kotetsu were up to, but still better.]
Putting in a little over time?
