if you give a pony a cake...
Who: Eugene, Shiro, and Cinderella
What: Cake party with a pony!
When: The Sunday after the great cave clusterfuck
Where: Cinderella's stable
MAGNIFICENT BAKERY closes early on Sundays--before dark in the summer time--so that is when Eugene and Shiro make the trip out to the Bell residence to bring Cinderella her cake. They take a bakery van, mostly because Eugene doesn't actually have a personal car. Why should he, when Locke City has a perfectly serviceable public transportation system?
He drives the van, of course, letting Shiro take shotgun. The cake is carrot.

By the end of the day, though, Shiro is pretty tired. He's drifting off a bit. In his lap he has his own box with his personal carrot cake recipe, made into a set of four cupcakes and adorned with caramel apple slices.
When the van jerks to a stop at the farm, he's jerked away from a light sleep.
"Huh? Wha? We're here?"

She'd been just short of her stable entrance to start on a bit of dinner. She stops, tilts her head, turns around and peeks around the wall. The stocky white cat's lounging on the fence.
"Who~o's there...?" she singsongs at her.
The cat blinks at her, turns her head toward the spot at which the sound had stopped, and stretches out a bit further.
"Hmm."
She keeps her eyes on the cat a few paces - still lounging, not looking back at her, at all, anymore - and canters over to the spot of fence closest to the sound.

He's grinning as he brings it over to the fence. "Hello Miss Cinderella!" he calls over. "Happy birthday to your very first cake!"

He was just resting. With his eyes closed. Of course.
He hops out of the car and follows Eugene over to the fence. "Heh, that turned out really great, boss. Super carroty!"
... Did he always have to say "Happy Birthday" to weird things like that? The guy was amazing with cakes, but man... he was weird. Shiro can't really contain a look at his boss, then clears his throat. "And some cupcakes from yours truly! Your introduction to cake is really a sweep!"

Disembarking are the baker fellows.
Her head reels back a bit.
She is gripped with the most comical anticipation.
As they approach she's readied the obligatory "Why, hello," and a much more purposeful "And just what brings you two here?" (The answer is cake. They went and made her that special cake that each of them had promised!) when the elder greets her first, instead.
He has a box. So does Shiro.
The whinny she emits is half playful, gleeful gasp and half "Eee!"
"Really? Why, you shouldn't have!"

"It was nothing, Miss Cinderella," Eugene says magnanimously. "An enjoyable exercise in my craft." He opens the top of the box, then sets it down before her. The words HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISS CINDERELLA are written in green icing in the center, the baby carrots pressed into the icing to decoratively line the rim of the top.

"What do you think brings us here, huh?" he teases. "Yeah, it was fun. Besides, I don't think either of us have ever baked for a pony before. It's all about the experience."
Shiro opens up his own box, presenting four large carrot cupcakes with caramel-dipped apple slices on top. A somewhat different approach, but every bit as artistic and over the top.
