Feivel is crouched down on his side of the stairs, torn between wanting to stay safe and wanting to see, but more so between wanting to help and knowing that he has absolutely nothing useful on his hands to fight with.

In the end heading back around the stairs wins out, and he grabs the side of the stairs and pulls himself around the stones so that he can see what is going on there.
