[It was just past noon in Germany when a call went out, the video revealing a young woman with black hair and uniform shifting uncomfortably in her seat. She looked to be in a break room of sorts. When she spoke she had a moderate French accent with a touch of German. It seemed English wasn't that strong.]

"Hello everyone... Um... My name is Celine Blanchefleur. I was advised to make this broadcast in English but I can speak French and German as well. I've been numbered for a short while now and I really don't know... anything. At all. Well much."

[She was extremely nervous, though not really distressed. Perhaps she just wasn't used to asking for help, or maybe it was simply the nature of the help she was requesting.] "I thought I might see if anyone can tell me anything. Or be willing to answer some of my questions. Honestly though I do not know what questions I'm supposed to ask. Or where to even start. This is all very new to me."

[In French, of course.] Ah? Have you changed you mind about meeting with me, Celine?

Oh? Of course not Emilia. [A hand was held up defensively.] There are simply a lot of numbered and I thought it would be good to know what they had to say about it as well. Especially since this power manifested. It's been... strange to put it simply.

I've never seen such a power. What does it do, exactly?

I'm not entirely... Well I almost certain it stops time. It takes some focus to begin and end and its not really difficult, but it makes me stressed and ill to use I cannot maintain it for long.

it is okay. some times it takes time to learn everything. i have been one for a year and do not know everything.

That sounds like it could be useful, if you echoed back mastery of it. Anyway, shall we continue this face to face, then?

Indeed. Message me when you arrive and I'll be there as soon as work is finished today.

I see. Well a year is still much longer than I've been. Any advice you can give me is welcomed.

umm...listen to what is going on. usually you find out a lot just by watching things. even us kids can figure things out quickly.

...even if a lot of kids are gone now.

I can do that I think. And I've already met someone keen on helping me.

And I heard about the kids vanishing. I don't know many of the details though.

[A second text came several moments later.]

I didn't get your name by the way.

[There is a moment before the response comes in voice. The quiet voice of a 9 year old girl.]

I...I'm Dani. I..I kinda recognize your name from my cousin.

[A pause as she's not fully sure how to explain things]

Well..they were after little kids for something. I don't know all what was going on but me and my friend got kidnapped to lead everyone to them. It..was kinda bad. There s also people losing their echos..it..happens a lot it seems like.

With a quick goodbye for now, she tells Sakuya she'll do just that. As soon as she arrives at the meeting spot, a forested area just north of the train station in town.

With the message sent, she now waits for the woman's arrival.

"Dani. That is a lovely name... And do other numbered really know about me? Already? Or is Emilia your cousin?"

[There was a moment of quiet]

It's possible to lose an echo? Wh... How?"

It was some time before Celine showed up. Nearly thirty minutes in fact. She stumbled a little into view, quite out of breath. She must have run part of the way. She had changed out of her uniform before coming and was wearing simple black pants and a nice white top with a coat. The chain of her dial could be seen dangling from her pocket.

"Sorry I'm a bit late. I was looking around for exactly where you meant..." They were a little bit off the beaten path.

"I was beginning to think you wouldn't make it"

Emi was wearing something less elaborate than her usual fashion concious outfit tonight. Simply because it'd be easier to move around in.

"Now, where to begin, hmm?"

"I'm sorry. A customer wouldn't leave. They stayed past closing time. I wasn't permitted to leave until they did..." She seemed somewhat annoyed about it. "And I'm okay with anything. If not for this I would simply be at home on the couch."

She had to suppress a yawn. Unlike Emilia she generally was awake during the day. If their outings became more regular it would take some serious getting used to on Celine's part.

"Well then, what do you know about the Numbered so far?" Emi relaxed a little, accepting the explanation. She was, of course, going to give Celine a rundown of numbered history.

"Truthfully? Almost nothing." She seemed a little embarrassed. "I've not really kept up. I'm usually too preoccupied by work and... family... and being as lazy as possible on Sundays so I can recover for the following work week."

Oh! Yeah, Emi is my cousin. She told me a bit.
Thank you, it's short for Danièle...but I like Dani better. That and people can actually pronounce it correctly.

[There is a slight french accent to her voice. It's slowly been drowned out from a few years of being in the states.

She gets quiet and sounds slightly distant.]

Yeah...it happens a lot. People just all of a sudden just don't remember or use the things theu could before. I...Everyone has seen it happen a lot.

"It seems we exist to protect the world. You've seen the giant monsters and those black fuzzy things? I'm told they're of alien origin. We're meant to defend against them, if we're able, because who else could do it? It was the Numbered that got those kids home, away from some literally inhuman kidnappers."

"To protect- wait those things are alien?" She wasn't entirely sure how to take that. "So people are regaining the memories of their past lives and gaining some form of magic power in order to repel an invasion by fuzzy aliens? You do understand how that sounds, right? Circumstances aside."

"Yeah... it sounds crazy and will take some getting used to. Have you heard of the troubles in Locke City over in the US?"

Emi herself was considerably unsure about everything at first herself. It sounded interesting, not that she admitted it at the time. She still approached things with confidence, even now, though.

"That... is awful. I wont lie and say this has been a fun experience thus far but it does feel a bit like I'm remembering something important. Forgetting would be..." [She didn't bother finishing.]

"Happier subject. Your name. Danièle. Je pense que ce est magnifique." [Her pronunciation of both the French and Dani's name were flawless, though colored by a slight german accent.]

"Oh. No I haven't. You can tell me if you wish, though I'm probably not the best one to turn to. I don't exactly have the means of getting to the US."

Calling Celine unsure would be the understatement of the year, but she was at least cooperative and willing to learn what was going on.

"Actually, there is a way. I'll show you sometime, there's a cave near Neuschwanstein Castle, where there's a teleporter that links to other echo areas like this one."

She thought she would know about the mafia attacks, their violent defeat and the power vacuum they left which resulted in riots.
